    MBR error 3

Hi guys, after 2 of my custom built gaming computer, I have been having occasional problems stating up. I push my power button and SOMETIMES (less then half'ish) I get my regular splash screen. Without seeing the splash screen, I cant even use the F keys to access stat up options. Even when I do use the repair disk to repair it, the repair screen has a little bar with command prompt, I click to expand it and it just dissapears after about 3 seconds so I cant enter any of the fixmbr commands. I tried starting it in safe mode but the commands dont seem to work their either. After it scans for errors, it wants me to use a recovery point, I tried this once and it didnt work, it just has the same MBR error.
Either way, with the splash screen or not, I still get the mbr error 3 just bellow the "Vallidating DMI Pool Data"

When I dont get the splash screen, after the error, there is a long pause, about 2 mins or so, and it says, "system recovery options" and is just frozen there.

I'm planning on getting a new hard drive tomorrow.

I suggest starting all troubleshooting with the following diagnostic tests. They'll save you a lot of time and heartache if there is a hardware failure, and you'll have the disks on hand in case you need them in the future:
    H/W Diagnostics:
Please start by running these bootable hardware diagnostics:
Memory Diagnostics (read the details at the link)
HD Diagnostic (read the details at the link)

Also, please run one of these free, independent online malware scans to ensure that your current protection hasn't been compromised: Malware (read the details at the link)

Well, Change of subject: I have purchased a new HDD, reformated the old one, and installed windows 7 on the new one, works fine! not the end of the story, me being me, i decided I would try installing ubuntu! tada! problem -.- i guess i installed ubuntu on the new hard drive over the windows 7, i THINK im not sure. When i try to start, it fails and crashes and retries to start again.
When i try to use the F8, repair mode, it goes to the repair screen, and is frozen, the keyboard doesnt work.
When i try to boot from the cd, i get this weird screen that wants me to select my language and some other stuff, and install it, but the same problem, its frozen again.

    So, the good news!
I do have Ubuntu running on my computer. Other than that I have no idea what to do.
    Please help!!!
