Windows 7: BSOD with product 768_1

21 Oct 2010   #11
cybercore

Windows 7 x64

Looks like something with your video card. Or your system seriously messed up. I would definitely recomend you reformat and clean install, this way at least you'll know it's not your system causing crashes. Make sure to take the time to search and install the latest drivers - ATI, VIA, ASUS. Install the vital drivers only, and if it crashes then it's your video card or the memory. Make sure all your hardwre clocks are set as recommended by the manufacturer. If still no luck,

1) disable the video card in device mansager to see how it goes

2) isolate ram sticks and run memtest overnight again, for each one of them separately.

PC crashed again after a clean install where C-drive was formatted.
So probably hardware problem I would say. So will get my old graphic card to check it, though I wonder if it is my graphic card. With FurMark I never had problems running the program.

If all your hardware parts are healthy - mobo, ram, videocard, and the voltages are set right, then you may wanna do bios upgrade. But I too suspect it's faulty hardware, if not the videocard than I would test RAM again.

Seems it isn't my videocard. Instead of my Ati HD5770 I put in my old nVidia 7600GT card. So also different drivers. Drivers of the ATI I removed with the Driver Sweeper which you told me too.

Since I want to buy extra ram, I will purchase that today if possible and check the ram...else I have the feeling it is my mobo, which I really hope it isnt (than I will probably be without pc for 1-2 weeks ).
I'll do a Memtest86+ run again, on each ram-module alone tonight again as well.

Is there any program for the mobo to check if there are errors? (like you have memtest for the ram)

Attached is the latest dumpfile I got from a BSOD (is still while I had Ati-card in though, so also the Ati-drivers installed at that time).

@HISI, ASUS ATK0110 ACPI Utility 2005 is a very common BSOD maker. Go to ASUS Support, choose your motherboard (actually any motherboard model), select your OS, -> ASUS ATK0110 ACPI Utility, the first one on the list of downloads.

Before I tried to update that part with ASUSupdate, not sure if that one worked though.
I tried before to download the BIOS-utility, but I really have no idea why ASUS has to make it so hard to download it, cause it tells me either to install Akamai Download Manager (where they dont provide a link for), or to use Bittorrent DNA p2p.

Well, I will have another shot. Maybe it will do it this time...

The Realtek I will install as well. Didnt do that yet.

Not sure if it's the right one, but the one downloaded is the attached pic.
I suppose this is the one you mend.

Realtek should be updated as well.
Is there a way to let you see if I got the correct ones.

Yup, you got it. You can also get the Realtek from Realtek Support.

This is my first post, forgive me if I write anything redundant. This is the third BSOD I've had while running 3ds max 2012, in a period of four months. I had initially thought that a new feature of the software ( namely the Nitrous viewport driver) was causing the issue, but my computer...

BSOD I suspect product 768_1
I just recently reformatted my hard drive and did a clean install of Windows 7 home edition 64bit. I can't nail this down but I think it's a USB driver issue. It reboots almost every hour only when the PC is unattended. The message logs all refer to product 768_1 whatever that is. Example...
