    windows 7 unable to boot

This problem follows on from my "Memory" thread of yesterday.
As it was late and my pc seemed to be getting slower and slower, I left it for the night. This morning I was unable to boot at all, just a blank screen. I had made a complete back up recently on an old hard drive and trying that got me no further. In desperation I decided to reload windows but that disk went through he usual start up procedure and left me with the normal windows 7 start up screen, blue with wavy lines and a single green plant on the left hand middle screen, but no menus to work with, just a plain screen.
To test the pc I then loaded my old XP pro and that runs ok. Trouble is this has an internet problem inasmuch as I can't log on to the net with it.
I am now using my wife's laptop. Is there anything I can try to get my Windows 7 up an d running again.

Boot from your windows 7 dvd (if you dont have it , download Download Windows 7 System Recovery Discs — The NeoSmart Files ) ... When the "Install Now" screen will appear , click on reapir .... choose startup repair form the repair options . Run it three separate times with restarts . It will add the missing bootloader . You need not to get into windows for it .

As you can boot from XP cd , but cannot boot from 7 dvd (I guess both are under the uniform situation) , better you first contact the supplier from whom you got that DVD . Ask him to taste it and if it is really corrupted, get it replaced .

EDIT : Get you ram and Graphics card checked , too . As it became gradually slower before being black out , there may be some graphics related problem which does not affect XP but affects 7 .
