I don't mean to rain on anyone’s parade; but I have tried in the lab Dell OS CDs and DVDs on non-Dell computers and it never works. Dell OEM disc are typically keyed to the BIOS and if you get passed that it still does not work. Just an FYI.

So do you think its that my OS is a Dell OEM disc as you called it? and that it was just a fluke i got it to run in the first place?

My computer was custome made by the factory i got it from and so is not a dell.
dose this help?

Be careful. That disk may not be legit and is it inst it wont work. IF it ie OEM dell it will only work with that computer. If he got it off ebay the key has probably been blacklisted.

I was able to varifie the key so i don't think it has yet, but as i have no clue with all this stuff my thing is i had XP on my comp for 5 days before i loaded the Dell OEM then all this started within the week.
You think if i just went back to XP I'd be ok? and that all this was caused by that god forsaken disc?

Thanks WindowsStar and zigzag3143, I was pretty sure that was the case with a Dell OEM disk, but have never tried it so wasn't positive.

This, and from ebay, makes the chances that this will work very slim, not to mention the other obvious issue.

I would have to say going back to XP for now is your best bet.

Never buy an OS from eBay; you will always run into problems, illegal, doesn't work, defective, etc.

Dave I was thinking something similar; but I don't know if it is even possible.
