Comp Crashes, Freezes, BSOD, except when Playing!

    Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit - Included a CPU-Z report on zip.

    Asus P6T
    Inter Core i7 920 @ 2.67
    12GB Ram DDR3
    NVidia GeForce GTX 295

My computer is rebooting and freezing A LOT. Like every 30 minutes, sometimes more, sometimes.. I ran Memtest 4.0 for 10 hours overnight and received no errors. Did a system file check, everything seems fine. I got blue screens 4 or 5 times, but the rest of the time it just freezes.

Now, the weird thing is that it can run for EVER if I'm playing a full screen game like Star Craft or Call of Duty, but as soon as I close the games it crashes. I can't get any work done!

Also, I tried clean boot but it still crashed. I did not crash on Safe Mode for over two hours.

It never creates a minidump, only onces got one. I was able to read the Blue Screen twice, the rest of the times it goes aways really fast:

One Blue Screen had this info:

    NTFS.SYS Page_Fault_In_Nonpaged_Area
    STOP 0x0...50
    0xFFFFF8A0E34502c8
    0x...1
    0xFFFFF880012E9732
    0x....5

    NTFS.SYS FFFFF880012E9732 Base At FFFFF8800123F000

    The other Bluescreen:

    DXGMM1.SYS
    STOP 0X0..7E
    0xFFFFFFFFC000001D
    0xFFFFF8800571399E
    0xFFFFF88003B1cc78
    0xFFFFF88003B1C4E0

I am doing them now should be aboout 5 mins. One thing I can tell you now is you have a driver asacpi.sys from 2005 whicha almost always causes bsods

    ASACPI.sys Sun Mar 27 22:30:36 2005
The 2005 version of this driver is a known BSOD cause.
Please visit this link: ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support- download_item_mkt
Scroll down to the Utilities category, then scroll down to the "ATK0110 driver for WindowsXP/Vista/Windows 7 32&64-bit " (it's about the 8th item down).
    Download and install it.
Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers to check and make sure that the ASACPI.sys file is date stamped from 2009 or 2010 (NOT 2005).

    Code:

    speedfan.sys fffff880`017eb000 0x00007000 0x45168798 9/24/2006 09:26:48 fffff880`017e4000

    amdxata.sys fffff880`011c9000 0x0000b000 0x4a12f2eb 5/19/2009 13:56:59 fffff880`011be000
    PxHlpa64.sys fffff880`0106be00 0x0000be00 0x4a416253 6/23/2009 19:16:35 fffff880`01060000
    How To Find Drivers:
    - search Google for the name of the driver
    - compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
    - visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
    - if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.
    - - The most common drivers are listed on this page: Driver Reference
    - - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: http://www.carrona.org/drvrdown.html

Third and probably most important memory corruption probably caused by the asacpi.sys file run memtest

Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot. Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

    Hi,

I updated the ASACPI.sys file, except in: C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\atk2000.inf_amd64_neutral_a91abe245a6c41c8 where the old one didn't update, but the new one is on System32/drivers

I did run the MemTest the other night for 10 hours, completed 4 passes and most of pass 5 without errors. I don't think is the memory because, like I said, I run games for hours and the computer doesn't crash, is when I'm trying to do anything else on windows that it crashes. Which is very weird.

    I uninstall CloneCD and Speedfan.

    Hi,

Went to Asus website and downloaded several updates for drivers for my motherboard. Not bios updates, thought I think I should, scare of messing with Bios. >_<

I also erased a few programs. Still a bit confused about some of the drivers that you mention on your post:

    dump_iaStorV.sys
Not in computer anymore. Maybe gone after Asus update?

    adfs.SYS
Adobe Driver. Renamed it to adfs.sys.old. Let's see what happens.

    RsFx0103.sys
Windows file, hot to deal with it?

    dump_iaStorV.sys
Not in computer anymore. Maybe gone after Asus update?

    iaStorV.sys
Not sure where to get this on the intel site. Myabe using iaStor.sys now.

    spldr.sys
Windows file, how to deal with it?

    amdxata.sys
AMD? I have Intel and GeForce video card. Do I need this?

    PxHlpa64.sys
    On System32 and C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Sonic Shared\PX Drivers

I created another report, this time I included the RAID/Hard Drive report that the newly installed Intel Mass Storage driver/software generated.

    Looking forward to your feedback.

    THANKS for the help!

BTW, 30 minutes and no reboots/freezes so far. Crossing fingers!

I hate to tell you but ASACPI.SYS is still dated 2005 and still loaded on the system. You will continue to have BSOD's with it there

    Screen

Ok, as you can see, the driver is the correct one, except in one folder (DriverStore/DriverRepository/..)

    What to do?

    (EDIT)

Just notice the This File is Block message. Let me try to unblock.
