if I could get a reason WHY i need to do that then I would. from what I can see it is some error in the boot sector that is not recognising windows. I have seen people re-write it and get things working but I dont know how.

Personally, after what you have already tried, with our best expert in BSOD analysis, I would be more interested in a stable, working OS.. A clean format/installation would be my next step .... however, its your call... Good luck with your problem..

Really? Default printer all users that complex?
Im hoping I missed something. Setting up printer in Win 7 on a network and setting a printer as a defualt doesnt stick for all users like it used to in XP. A bunch of posts conveying some suprisingly complex answers using Rundll32 and printui.dll for this.
