Help with BSOD

I am experiencing intermittent BSODs with my desktop computer. I was hoping someone could help me pinpoint the problem. As requested, I have attached the Windows_NT6_BSOD_jcgriff2 folder & the PERFMON HTML file as a zipped attachments.

My system is
PC (build your own) 9 months ago.
CPU: core i7 920
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit OEM, clean install 9 months ago.
Graphics: ATI Radeon 5850
Memory: 6Gb (OCZ OCZ3G1600LV6GK DDR3 PC3-12800 1600 MHz Gold XTC)

Thank you for your help,
Oliver

Welcome to the forum, ollieh. I am sorry you are having problems. I looked at your four most recent dumps. They point two hardware/hardware related (drivers) problems.

I suggest that you uninstall Comodo. Third party firewalls and antivirus programs cause crashes on some Win 7systems. Once you have your system stable, you can try Comodo again. I also see that you have Windows Firewall running. Running two firewalls is not a good idea. They can conflict and cause crashes. Leave Windows Firewall running and download and install Microsoft Security Essentials. MSE supersedes Windows Defender and offers better protection. It will turn Windows Defender off.

I find outdated drivers loading on your system. Older drivers can and do cause memory corruption and crashes. The drivers in red font are quite obsolete. Update the following drivers.
Quote:
AsUpIO.sys Sun Jul 05 22:21:38 2009 - AsUpIO.sys Asus utility driver. ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support-

dsNcAdX64.sys Tue Jun 19 02:47:32 2007 - Network Connect VPN software by Juniper NetworksCustomer Support Center - Juniper Networks. If you cannot update this driver, uninstall the software. It is obsolete.

LHidFilt.Sys Wed Jun 17 12:49:39 2009 - Logitech SetPoint HID Filter Driver Downloads

LMouFilt.Sys Wed Jun 17 12:49:43 2009 - Logitech Mouse Filter driverDownloads

PxHlpa64.sys Fri Feb 02 16:24:22 2007
- Sonic CD/DVD driver (used by many different CD/DVD programs) pxHelp20.sys programs
Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers and rename PxHlpa64.sys to PxHlpa64.BAK
This will break your CD/DVD program, but can easily be renamed after we've finished.

RimSerial_AMD64.sys Tue Jan 09 11:50:11 2007
- Virtual Serial Port driver for Blackberry. If you cannot update this driver, uninstall the software. It is obsolete. Research In Motion - Products.
How to update drivers -
Quote:
- I have listed links to most of the drivers in the code box above. Please use the links there to see what info I've found about those drivers.
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

- - The most common drivers are listed on this page: Driver Reference
- - Driver manufacturer links are on this page:

I still see outdated drivers on your system. Both of the drivers in red font were involved in the crash. Uninstall the software associated with each of those drivers and update the other drivers listed.

UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP (7f)
This means a trap occurred in kernel mode, and it's a trap of a kind
that the kernel isn't allowed to have/catch (bound trap) or that
is always instant death (double fault). The first number in the
bugcheck params is the number of the trap (8 = double fault, etc)
Consult an Intel x86 family manual to learn more about what these
traps are. Here is a *portion* of those codes:
If kv shows a taskGate
use .tss on the part before the colon, then kv.
Else if kv shows a trapframe
        use .trap on that value
Else
.trap on the appropriate frame will show where the trap was taken
(on x86, this will be the ebp that goes with the procedure KiTrap)
Endif
kb will then show the corrected stack.
Arguments:
Arg1: 0000000000000008, EXCEPTION_DOUBLE_FAULT
Arg2: 0000000080050033
Arg3: 00000000000006f8

Hi,
I uninstalled All related blackberry software as well as the Juniper software using "Program and Features" from the Windows 7 "Control Panel."

However, the drivers are still present on C:\Windows\System32/drivers

RimSerial_AMD64.sys 1/09/2009 04:02 pm
dsNcAdX64.sys 11/07/2008 12:51am

I updated the logitech drivers from

I tried updating my ASUS bios to the newest version, but ASUSUpdate program says that my current bios version 0813 is the current version. Looking on the ASUS webpage, there are 2 more recent bios vesions 0904 and 1002. Will try to manually update the bios to update AsUpIO.sys.

How do I update (or if possible) RimSerial_AMD64.sys and dsNcAdX64.sys if I've already uninstalled the involved programs (e.g. Blackberry, Juniper Networks)?

Rename the drivers to *.old and they wont load. (ie rimSerial AMD64.old)

Thanks. I didn't think that I could rename the drivers.

ZigZag is spot on. Yes, you can rename them. Reboot and they will not load.
