i5-760 No POST
Question: I have a i5-760 processor system which has been working for last 3 months. When I came to it today the screen was frozen, so I rebooted...tried. OK I had to shut it OFF. Restarted...it did not want to restart. Is is possible that the CPU is fried? I am not getting it to BOOT, or POST, nothing. The temp on it the last few times I checked was around 45-50C.
I was under the impression that if the processor got hot it would shut OFF? Is it possible that it died? / Fried?
The CPU fan and all fans in the box work... GPU fan works. but no POST.
The board is an ASUS P7H55D-M EVO. Then I took it out and used a spare i3 CPU and it works fine... Can a CPU just die like that?
What else can I try ... I have never had a processor die on me... I still have my old Z86 (not used any more) an it never died.
Suggestion on what else can I try to revive my i5-760? or is it dead.?
