    Problems with Window 7 laptop


    First off hello everyone I'm new, and Happy to be joining this community =]

    Today I turned on my laptop after I was doing my homework this morning and the laptop turned on but the screen was blank and the caps lock light just sat and blinked I heard this was a indicator for something... I have warranty till the first of the year and was thinking about returning it back, but theres a problem my screen is broken, I hook the screen up to a external monitor if i send it back will they keep it or something...

    Other than that are there ways on fixing this problem without returning it?

    I would just like some clarification on the screen issue. How long as the screen not worked? Did it suddenly stop working or did you do something to break it? For the main issue you are writting about, make sure that nothing is connected to the laptop except the charger and that there are no disc in the disc drive. If the problem still occurs, disconnect the battery and charger, hold down the power button for about 20 seconds, reattach the charger, but not the battery, and try again. Let us know the results.

    Well I tried unplugging it and taking out the battery and holding the power button like you said, still didnt work so i decided to take out the ram to check if it was the motherboard...and it beeped so i put it back in and turn the laptop back on and it work...have no idea what happened lol also the screen broke about 7 months ago when my girlfriends little sister jumped on it so yeah anyone wanna tell me what happened?

    I couldn't tell you exactly what the problem was, but reseating (disconneting and reconnecting/removing and putting back in) a component is a common way of fixing problems. Sometimes a component is not seated/connected properly, resulting in the problem you had. As for the screen, accidental damage is not covered by most warranties. The best I can recommend is replacing the screen. I would check online stores. Some will sell a new screen, or you may be able to find a used one. You can even search eBay and other online auction sites to see if someone has a broken computer that is the same model as yours that has a working screen (i.e. has a bad motherboard, cpu, or undiagnosed problems).
