What about the Google Toolbar? Was that interfering with the computer? I still can't see some images on websites such as GameFAQs? Would a scan of the hard drive be a good idea with chkdsk?

Gamefaqs relies heavily on Javascript. Are you sure that you don't block it by some means (like the Firefox NoScript Plugin etc.)
Running a chkdsk wouldn't change anything here.
As for Google Toolbar: I really expected that to show up in HijackThis but it didn't...so the de-install routine must have done its job. If there are leftovers you can only find them in the registry but I would hate for you to go through that by hand. There are way too many keys involved.
The Updater usually sits here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Google\Common\Google Updater
if it's there, make a screenshot and I'll mark what you can safely delete
Like I said before if it doesn't give you any grieve, leave it be

I never installed javascript so that's probably the problem with GameFAQs. Do you know where I can download it?

You don't have to install it...Webpages use it to juice up their presentation. Most browsers are able to utilize it.
Since lots nasties like browser hijacks , spyware and other stuff uses Javascript I decided to block it for all pages, only make exceptions on pages I trust (like here)

I can't see images of Dunmanway, Ireland on google streetview anymore. Is there a problem with my computer or is it google's? I'm guessing that the Google Maps developers are using some new features of Flash, and they broke Street View for older versions of Flash. Do you recommend having add-ons on Internet Explorer? I think those add-ons were what caused IE to crash constantly.

Honestly, I never use IE (because it used to be the major target for every wannabe Trojan programmer for ages.
So I played around with Netscape, went to Firefox when it was released, had some in between episodes with Opera and Chrome at some time, went back to Firefox and stayed there.

If you'd like to check out another browser, I recommend a portable one (You wouldn't have to install anything and to get rid of it, all you do is deleting the folder

Try this one...it's my "backup browser" and hasn't disappointed me so far: Chrome version 6 annoyances

Oh I see, what you did...you uninstalled JAVA not JavaScript (those are two different things:
Java was used to create certain applications (which lately are normally done in Flash or Shockwave)

It's OK to remove Java as long as you don't run any applications that rely on it (in that case all you get is an error message that Java can't be found)
If you find out later on, that you need Java, I would get JavaRa to remove any leftovers from previous installations and then install the latest version from here

JavaScript is mainly a method to "spruce up" web pages (i.e disable right-click on some pages or implement some sort of control)
You can't really deinstall JavaScript, but you can block/disable that in your browser.
(but if you block it you will not be able to watch any YouTube clips plus some pages will look quite odd).

You HijackThis log looks ok to me..not much change compared to the last one...only this one is not necessary anymore (But it's still OK to leave it alone)

O2 - BHO: Java(tm) Plug-In 2 SSV Helper - {DBC80044-A445-435b-BC74-9C25C1C588A9} - C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin\jp2ssv.dll (file missing)

Thanks for the reply. The computer is working fine now, so I think I'll leave the Java Updater alone. I believe it was the Yahoo Toolbar and Google Toolbar that was causing Internet Explorer to crash, but since I uninstalled them, IE has been working alright.
