Aha, seems to be related to an SPTD error (unfortunately the message provides no specifics in the event logs) which is installed with VirtualCloneDrive I believe. I have just removed 'VCDDaemon.exe' from the startup processes so I will see what happens even though I have had no shutdown issues since these 2 the other day.

    Hey Welcome to sevenforums.
I had 2 thoughts abt re-boots. First do you have auto updates turned on and set to auto? Some updates require a re-boot. Second, you may re-boot automatically in case of a problem. It could be either. If you could give us some more info we could narrow it done for you

Updates download but do not install without me telling them to. Other than that I have had a lot of blue screen (about 25 or so) since installing 7 a week ago. Mostly due to when I go to install something, or change video card options. I had 2 bluescreens tonight while playing both Farcry2 and Fallout 3. I only got about 45 seconds of play in FC2...

Well another program that uses SPTD is daemon tools. Make sure you don't have it auto starting and when you get done using the program to disable any active virtual devices. What error codes do you get when you BSOD?

It sounds like a vid driver problem. Every time you get a bsod you get a stop message on screen, and a memory dump is stored. If you could tell us what the stop message is or look it up in event viewer (start>search>type event viewer>click on event viewer). Any information you give us would help

    Hope this helps somewhat

I left my PC on last night to, uh, download some personal movies uploaded by a friend in, lets says, Canada but I heard it reboot itself 2 or 3 times during the night. It would have just loaded into Windows and sat on the desktop doing it's thing for me, I would hear a click, silence and then 5 seconds later it would start up again.

What the hell is going on?
When did you install Win 7?
Did you verify that your Win 7 was activated?
Windows 7 if not activated has a DEFAULT "reboot every 2 hours"!
By Default if you did not activate your version, it is fully fuctional for 30 days... then it starts "every 2 hours - Reboot". or so MS says. (sounds like its time.)

Installed on June 1st and I activated Windows 7 on the same day (see picture attachment). I have had no issues before and after the 2 automatic reboots with rebooting every 2 hours, I usually have my PC on between 5pm - 11pm.

Below is a copy of my last blue screen/crash error from event logs

Have you tried running sfc /scannow from an elevated command prompt?

Click the Start orb, type cmd then when it comes up, right-click & 'run as administrator'. The sfc command line will check your system file integrity and report if anything has become corrupt or damaged, then replace the file with a backup.
       Note
You may need to restart your machine after the scan has completely finished

    Hope this help :)

There's not much info available about this error (STOP 0x10), but I did dredge this up at MSDN: SPIN_LOCK_NOT_OWNED

Please locate the files in the C:\Windows\Minidump directory, zip them up, and upload them with your next post. It's possible that the memory dump file has additional information about the error.

Minidumps uploaded. 4 random files were inaccessible for some reason.
Still running a sfc /scannow... (51% after about 1.5 hours)

    EDIT: sfc /scannow completed...
