Display Driver Has Crashed- Acer Aspire

Hey guys,
I have been having this problem for a long time now. I have done my research and the solutions that other people had didn't really seem to work for me. I have tried reinstallling the display driver, formatting the computer, updating the driver, i even bought a new ATI display driver. If you guys can help me it will really be appreciated. Okay so this is what exactly happens. I would be using my computer normally then it would freeze up, the screen would go black. Sometimes it would go to a BSOD and i have to restart, sometimes it doesnt come back, and sometimes it does comeback. When it does comeback a little message pops up saying "Display driver has stopped responding and has recovered" It is really Starting to annoy me.

From what you've described, you've done all the testing/replacement that we would have done.
In that case it's most likely that there's a problem with your motherboard and how it handles graphics.
I'd suggest a new motherboard, but that'll set you back around $100 (US) and there's no guarantee that this is the problem. If you do purchase a new mobo, be sure that you can return it for your money back if it doesn't work.

Good luck!

I recently had my Acer Aspire 5050 laptop, which used to run on Vista, updated to Windows 7. I noticed right away that the display resolution looked compressed or 'squashed' and stretched. Went to adjust the resolution but there are only two options: 1024 x 768 (what I understand to be the...
