Windows 7 Freezing Screen + Black Screen

Before this happened, I could put my computer on sleep without any problems. Now, when I put it on sleep, I turn it on, the screen freezes. I shut it down, start it again, and then the Loading Windows freezes. Another problem is a small one I felt like adding, is that the Windows 7 screen where it is loading up your computer, doesn't show for me. This is not a problem where other users could not log on. All mine does is have a black screen, then loads to my desktop. So it works fine, just that the screen doesn't show. Please help.

Can you boot into safe mode (F8)"

Do you have the win 7 dvd to do a repair install?

Do you have a backup, by chance?

Yes, I do have the DVD and can press F8. Not sure about backup though.
