here are the results of chkdsk, it got too late, I haven't run the other yet. I have a feeling this mystery will never be solved, since the SSD will be here today, and I don't want to take up any more of your time.

Other than cleaning your hard drive up a bit, Check Disk found no problems. I did not think it was a hard drive problem; but because of the error code, I would have been remiss if I had not suggested that you do so.

You have updated drivers and eliminated known BSOD causes. You have run malware scans. You have tried Driver Verifier which resulted in early crashes and pointed to a Windows system driver. Now it is time to test hardware. I suggest that you run Memtest following the instructions in this tutorial by Jonathan King: RAM - Test with Memtest86+. Run it for at least 7 passes. Yesterday, a member was running Memtest and errors did not show until the 10th pass. Running 7 passes will take 6-8 hours. I suggest that you run Memtest from a cold boot after you computer has been off for a while. Errors will show on your screen in red. If you see errors, you can stop the test. Post back with the results. I suggest you do this before installing your new hardware.

    Thanks Carl,

I ran memtest for 12 hours a few weeks back, that was my initial thought as well. After it passed, I put the original memory in and ran on that for a few days until I got another BSOD.

I think I have narrowed it down to one of two things -

    1) This Seagate Momentus XT Hybrid drive may have issues. From other pages I have read, other people have run into similar issues, but I can't pin it to this with 100% certainty

    2) Samsung has been less than timely with their driver updates. I still have the original drive with all the original drivers. I am going to compare those to what I have on this machine and see if there are updated drivers that they have not posted, before I install the SSD.

Those are my best two guesses at this point, and the SSD will rule out number 1, and being methodical about my driver installs will rule out number two.

I will let you know what I find. Thanks again for all of your help, I really do appreciate it!

You are welcome, Grant; and it is a pleasure to work with you. For our learning experience, please let us know what you do and the results thereof. I have noticed that green drives and hybrid drives cause problems. That said, of course, we get the problems here; folks don't post when all is running well. But with standard hard drives, about the only problems I see are the occasional hard drive failure.
