    BSOD | Locale ID: 1033 | BCCode: a0

Hello, I've read some other posts and searched for my error on Google, but I am not finding a solution.

Find below, a copy of the error message. Attached is my .zip per BSOD Posting Instructions.

My computer is in my room. I fell asleep watching a movie on it and when I woke up this morning, the computer was off. I pressed the power button and the computer starts and runs just fine, except for a "Windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown" error. My Power Management Settings put the computer to sleep after 30 minutes and set to hybrid sleep. This is a reoccurring problem.

Please let me know if you need any additional information or anything I can help with!

Hello, Alex and welcome to the forum. Both dumps are the same error code and do not give a definitive cause. This mean you will have to troubleshoot by a process of elimination.

To begin your troubleshooting, please uninstall Daemon Tools. It uses a driver, found in your dmp, sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs. Use this SPTD uninstaller when you're done: DuplexSecure - Downloads. Select uninstall; do NOT select reinstall.

Here is a free alternative CD virtualization program that does not use the sptd.sys driver.
    Freeware MagicISO Virtual CD/DVD-ROM(MagicDisc) Overview

Next, I recommend that you uninstall Norton/Symantec. Norton is a well documented cause of crashes on some Win 7 systems. Download and install Microsoft Security Essentials in its place and make sure Windows Firewall is turned on. YOu can reinstall Norton once your system is stable; but I do not recommend doing so. Norton is shown in the dumps as being involved in the crashes.

If you have any network security program installed, uninstall it. I see a strange driver that is usually generated by some kind of a network or hotspot security program. These programs do not work with Win 7.

Outdated drivers can and do cause conflicts, memory corruption and BSOD's. You have two very obsolete drivers load ing on your system Update these drivers, uninstall the software they are associated with or rename them.
    jswpslwfx.sys Thu May 15 06:28:50 2008 - Atheros Security NDIS 6.0 Filter Driver (likely a D-Link device). http://www.dlink.com/support/products/default.aspx#usb.

    scmndisp.sys Wed Jan 17 02:48:03 2007 - Atheros Security NDIS 6.0 Filter Driver (likely a D-Link device). http://www.dlink.com/support/products/default.aspx#usb.
To rename a drivers, navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers, locate the driver and rename them from .sys to .old. Reboot and the drivers will not load.

Uninstall sptd.sys and Norton Symantec. Update or rename the above drivers, reboot and see how your system does. Please update us and let us know. If you get another BSOD, upload it and we will go from there.

I've uninstalled Daemon Tools, sptd.sys, and Norton Internet Security 2010. Thank you for the suggested alternatives, I will look into them when my system is stable.

I am not aware of any other network security programs on my computer. I have a Netgear wireless adaptor connected via. USB and installed it's drivers, but deferred to Windows to control Wireless Network. The only other programs I can think of that utilize internet upon start-up is Logitech Setpoint & G-Series Key Profiler, Outlook, Windows Live Mesh, Stream, Winamp, and AirMouse (program that allows my phone to act as a mouse via. Wifi).

I Googled the G-Series Key Profiler and noticed that there a some problems associated with this. You might want to do some reading on this. g-series key profiler - Google Search. Don't forget to take care of those two drivers; they could well be part of the cause.

CarlTR6, thank you very much for your help! I don't understand why the jswpslwfx.sys and scmndisp.sys are on my system. I don't own a D-Link product so I'm not even sure what device driver I would try to update, but I will try renaming them to .old.

It may be tomorrow before I know if this worked. I will try to recreate the environment that I left the computer last night and see what happens.

I changed the drivers to .old and upon restart lost internet connectivity, but had network access. I'm not sure if the drivers are for the Netgear WNA1100 Wireless Adapter or something in the motherboard, but drivers for the Motherboard and Netgear are up-to-date.

Alex, I went to the Windows Compatibility link, I did not see your Netgear WNA1100 Wireless Adapter listed. You might try:

I couldn't find my model listed on the website either, however the WNDA3100 is listed, which is the step up from what I have.

I looked at the manufacturer's website and Windows 7 64bit is listed as compatible in the data sheet, under learn more.

I saw that on the Netgear site. It concerns me that it is not on the Windows site's compatibility list. If those two drivers are part of Netgear and there is no update for them, it is not compatible with Win 7. Since they are Atheros drivers, I wonder if they are chipset drivers for your motherboard? That said your network adapter drivers are all up to date. When you installed the 64 bit Win 7, what devices and software did you install? Do you have another wireless adapter you can try, one that is listed on the Windows website as compatible?

I do not have another wireless adapter to use. I've had the Netgear for nearly a year without incident. The most recent changes to my computer was the addition of the SSD & going from 6 to 12 GBs of RAM. I installed Windows 7 on the SSD.

I ran into nearly exactly the same problem this today. When I clicked my mouse to resume out of sleep, the computer restarted, I was asked if I wanted to start Windows in Safe Mode or Normal, I selected Normal. When Windows opened, I was told an error occurred, but was not give a specific error.

Event Viewer flags Critical: Kernel-Power, Event ID 41; and (2) Errors: BugCheck, Event ID 1001; EventLog, Event ID 6008.

I also had a popup of "mswinext.exe - Bad Image" error, something to do with "C\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Silverlight\4.0.50917.0\npctrl.dll either not designed to run on Windows or it contains errors." It asks for a reinstall.

Attached, is another BSOD Report & System Health Report.
