BSOD - Please Help

I am hoping you have everything you need in this, I've attached the files requested in the sticky thread.

I have been troubleshooting this for months on and off, but I'm not qualified to diagnose bsods, and I haven't made any headway, so I'm quite frustrated.

My computer is fairly new. About a year, and this has been happening since I bought it. I have reloaded the OS several times, and was running linux for a while (which didn't have any issues). I've run Vista 32 and 64 and 7 32 and 64 on this machine and both of them had issues.

Thank you very much in advance.

Cal

Hi Cal; welcome to the forum. Sorry you are having trouble. I looked at your three most recent dumps. They indicate driver problems and memory corruption. Unfortunately, they do not give us a specific cause; so you will have to troubleshoot.

To begin troubleshooting update this almost guaranteed BSOD maker.
[quote]
Code:
 ASACPI.sys Sun Mar 27 22:30:36 2005
The 2005 version of this driver is a known BSOD cause.
Please visit this link: ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support- download_item_mkt
Scroll down to the Utilities category, then scroll down to the "ATK0110 driver for WindowsXP/Vista/Windows 7 32&64-bit " (it's about the 8th item down).
Download and install it.
Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers to check and make sure that the ASACPI.sys file is date stamped from 2009 or 2010 (NOT 2005).

I find another very obsolete driver on your system. Outdated drivers can and do cause memory corruption and conflicts.
Quote:
V0420Vid.sys Wed May 30 21:33:30 2007 - Creative Video Capture Device driver, Creative Technology Ltd, Creative Worldwide Support. If you cannot update this driver, uninstall the camera; it is obsolete.
Update or eliminate these two drivers, reboot and run your system. Let's see how it does. Please update us and let us know. If you get another BSOD, upload it and we will go from there.

Thank you very much for the fast response. I did get another BSOD, but that was before I did anything.

I've updated the ASUS driver you mentioned, and so far haven't had a BSOD, but sometimes they are a few days between as you can see from the file I sent in.

I'll let you know how it goes.

You are very welcome. Did you take care of the camera driver? If not, it will come back to bite you. I suggest you upgrade to a new camera and uninstall your old one. Please do update us in a couple of days. I hope your BSOD's are history.

I just bought a new camera which is compatible with Windows 7 x64, so I'll install that tonight and report back. Sorry for the late response. I had to wait for a paycheque

I can relate to that!! You will need to uninstall the old camera. Then, using Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers, locate the driver file, V0420Vid.sys, and rename it from .sys to .old. Reboot and the driver will not load. If you don't find that driver, that means the uninstall removed it.

I've switched out my camera with a new one that works with Windows 7, however I'm still getting BSODs. I'll post a new diag as soon as it's finished.
