Windows 7 cannot boot up - Please help!

Hello, I am a novice computer user.

Today, my computer was shut down due to a power cut while it was defragmenting. When I booted it up again, the default windows screen did not appear and I was given this error code: 0xc00000e9: Unexpected I/O error and it said that one of the devices was plugged in was malfunctioning of some sort.

I tried inserting the Windows 7 disc and repairing it to no avail. I also tried installing a fresh Windows 7 on a different partition. The screen went black as it was completing the installation. I could not do anything except to press Ctrl + Alt + Del to get the computer to reboot. I also cannot asses the Advance Boot menu options by F8 for both Windows 7 that are installed.

Can anyone help me to repair this issue?

My computer is

Motherboard: P55A-UD3
Graphics Card: MSI R5770 Hawk
4 gb ram
WD 500 gb Black

Thank you very much. And sorry if I have not provided enough information.

It sounds like you have a BIOS problem. Can you boot into BIOS and reset to defaults? Also try unplugging the power cord and press the power button for a few seconds.

Do you have any beeps when you switch it on?

Possibly remove all memory and switch it on, see if it beeps, if it doesn't then it's not looking good for the motherboard

I dont know whether that means you ran something like Startup repair and it failed or whether you are unable to get into the repair options. If you can get into the Command prompt from the Repair options, try fixing the mbr. See this tut.

Thank you for your replies.

@roban I can boot into my Bios and I shall try what you have suggested now. Thanks.

@JDobbsy1987 Yes, my computer beeps as it switches on.

I also tried going into the repair my computer from the Windows 7 disk but my computer will just hang there now. It used to work earlier. And now it seems basically everything leads to my computer hanging at a Black screen. I am using a DVI connection I think. ><

Are you using the on-board display input or are you using a graphics card?

Well to try any remedy the black screen, remove the graphics card and use the on-board display input for now.

The reason i say this is if some drivers are corrupt as soon as you boot into windows the graphics card has no drivers to run it which would quite easily result in the black screen.

This will hopefully enable you to do more troubleshooting and then you can download / install that latest drivers for your card.

I've loaded the default BIOs and I managed to boot into the screen of

"Setup is preparing your computer for first time use"

It is still loading though. I shall see what happens next and use your advice to help me solve the problem.

Thank you everyone for your help.

And hopefully it works now... If it doesn't, I have to request your help again ><

EDIT: Does anyone know how long that screen should last for?

Okay, now when I try to boot the computer, it get the error 0xc000000f and says that winload.exe is either missing or corrupt, What should I do now?

Now I also can't even boot into the Windows Disk, it just hangs at the background with a cursor.
