Windows 7: BSOD - Who Dat?

BSOD - Who Dat?

Installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit on a new computer build. I've had 3-4 BSOD in the last couple days.

I've tweaked Windows for the SSD and installed the not-so-great Norton Endpoint Anti-Virus. Other than that, very few programs have been installed.

I would greatly appreciate if someone could help diagnose...WHO DAT?

Thanks!

Hi, Jiminy, and welcome to the forum. For starters I recommend you uninstall Norton using this removal tool: Tool. Norton is a known cause of BSOD's on some Win 7 systems. Download and install Microsoft Security Essentials while you are trouble shooting. MSE will not cause BSOD's. Also make sure Windows Firewall is turned on.
Quote:
Error code D1, DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. Usually caused by a driver.

Error code 3B, SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION. Usual causes: System service, Device driver, graphics driver, ?memory.

Error code 1E, KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED. Usual causes: Device driver, hardware, System service, compatibility, Remote control programs, memory, BIOS.
These are all hardware/hardware related (drivers) error codes. The dumps do not tell us anything specifically. All of your drivers are up to date. After you remove Norton, run your system and see how it does. Update us and let us know. If you get another BSOD, upload it and we will go from there.

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (d1)
An attempt was made to access a pageable (or completely invalid) address at an
interrupt request level (IRQL) that is too high. This is usually
caused by drivers using improper addresses.
If kernel debugger is available get stack backtrace.

Arg2: 0000000000000002, IRQL
Arg3: 0000000000000000, value 0 = read operation, 1 = write operation

Thanks CarlTR6!

Thanks pointing me on the right track. I swapped AV programs, so we'll see how it goes.

If does pop back up, I have a feeling it's a BIOS issue with the Gigabyte motherboard, but it seems much more managable now that you've looked over the software side of it.

Cheers!

You are very welcome. I hope simply uninstalling Norton solves your problem.
