another 6-7 crashes, all no blue screen.
I've tried enabling all drivers in the verifier & all but amdxata.sys, and secdrv.sys.
all the crashes just hang the system for a few seconds and then a restart
    I can't even crash right
before the latest crash I had an event ID 315 error but I can't see that causing a crash.
just in case I've disconnected the printer
most of them occur when I'm simply browsing with absolutely nothing extra running
I've gone through all drivers again & they're all up to date.
    any ideas?

    ok
Iv'e ran Memtest86 & Prime 95 for 13 hrs, also ran some stress test with Burnin test. All show no errors.
the R & P Monitor shows an error "tv_ConfigMgrErr24" for a PS/2 Keyboard which is not installed on the machine & there is no bios setup for one, same with the mouse. there is no conflicts in the device mng, so I'm lost as to what that error means.
wasn't sure how to report the Prime95 test but ended up with whats in the zip file
    i zipped up a new Windows_NT6_BSOD_jcgriff2, a R&P report, the prime95 with the temps

    thanks for the help wish

    Hello,
Memtest86 and Prime95 reported no error and your system temperature is ok.

Then I see there is newer version of your Bios, so you can try updating it.
    Your current bios :
    BiosVersion = P01-A3
    Release date = 12/31/2009

    Newer version at acer website:
    BiosVersion = P01.B2
    Release date = 06/28/2010

    Hmm you still get crashed?
Try to uninstall My Winlocker (egistec) software.
Encryption Software - Encryption and Decryption - Files Lock - Files Invisible - MyWinLocker
    Code:
    mwlPSDFilter.sys Tue Jun 02 03:07:30 2009
    mwlPSDNServ.sys Tue Jun 02 03:07:39 2009
    mwlPSDVDisk.sys Tue Jun 02 03:15:29 2009
Then about "tv_ConfigMgrErr24" , can you update its driver from device manager?

yea, I uninstalled MyWinLocker a couple of weeks ago
all the drivers are up to date as best as I can tell & according to Driver Genius
    edit
even though i uninstalled MyWinLocker the divers mentioned above were still on the system.
created a restore point & deleted them

    edit
hehe, don't delete those drivers, it gave me a bsod on the boot

    @ True North,

I notice in your system specs you say you have a 4600 series.....
is it a 4610 4650 or 4670 ? if so. this is your problem....read on.

I think Ive narrowed down the cause.
    its the ATI Drivers.

when you update the radeon.. go to "guru of 3d.com" and use those drivers.
they're more reliable .tested and proven by gamers.

    IMPORTANT.***

go to device manager and see what your display adaptor info reads....4600 series.?
    not good.!!
after you install catalyst it seems to use the crappy "4600 series" generic ati driver.

you want it to actually say : ati radeon 4650 .

    here's how to do that:

after installing the driver and ccc . go to device manager...
right click display adaptor . go to properties.. then driver... click update.
select manually... select i will choose. deselect automatically compatible.(checkbox)
find the actual 4650 driver rather than " 4600 series" the lowest one will be the newest and it came with the package ,select it and click next then say yes to the warning. installs....

now if you go look under "display adaptors"
    it says "ati radeon 4650 " not " 4600 series " .. good!~.. thats what we want.

**for some reason the installer package uses the generic 4600 driver.~Not what we want.

This seems to be what fixed this problem for me. but .Ill keep you posted..
I am using driver version 8.632 from 7/2/2009.
The new ccc 10.21 sucks. i tried it yesterday..
it has no avivo color saturation on desktops and too many tabs to navigate through.
its no good. so i went back to ccc 9.7 from guru of 3d.com

i tried using firefox after it first happened while browsing with ie ..
but the browser wasn't the culprit..... it happened with firefox too.

No mention of any ATI errors in eventviewer (other than my improper shutdowns).hmm..only win7 does it ... (crashes freezes) but Xp , osX, ubuntu linux, dont ever crash for me ..same pc... same system//
(multi-boot-loader O.S. scenario)- i have 6 os-es for testing purposes.. (like this one.)

So I KNOW its not my hardware at fault .( and i just built this rig last month....)

my other win7 install (a separate disk) (no drivers installed by me) doesn't crash iether.
    proves its driver related.
moral of the story : Latest drivers are not always better.
the default ATI installed driver with CCC is wrong.(not stable anyways.)
i knew i had problems with the ati drivers too because :i had problems with
ati2mag.sys crashing and atioglxx.sys interfering when launching aps like udefrag3
i was able to determine and correct the issues after some experimenting.

i hope this post helped someone.
Let me know if it did...:)

pm me if you need . Im always down to help. cheers. happy new year.
