I ditched AVG for Avast!, was unsastified. I also got rid of comodo for window's firewall and my router's firewall, but it's not that great so I was receiving infections at a rate of 4 or 5 per day, cleaning them out with spybot, so I installed Comodo (with comodo av), BSOD, but windows firewall was on. I restarted with it off after turning it off in safe mode. BSOD again after an hour, I used to get them right at start up, and I'm running again right now.
I am still weary that it's not just comodo's fault, but I really really like the firewall, so I'm going to try and keep it.
1. netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
Disable the autotunning feature in Vista completely, and fit and lock the RWIN receive window to default value 65536 bytes.
2. netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=restricted
Allow for the receive window to grow beyond the default value, but limit such growth in some scenarios.
3. netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal
Allow for the receive window to grow to accommodate almost all scenarios. The default setting in Vista.
Specifying this command mean you want to turn back on AutoTuning feature.
4. netsh interface tcp set global rss=disabled ( this is default)
Yes these are for Vista but I use #3.
