    Windows 7 Strange Behavior

I just re-installed Windows 7 Home Edition x64 and I'm experiencing a strange problem. After a certain amount of time (hard to gauge) the refresh stops working properly. You can drag something to the desktop or a folder but it won't show until you manually do a refresh. Same thing with deleting a file, or creating a text file. It just doesn't disappear or appear without a refresh. At the same time, if you try to do a shutdown the system hangs and you have to manually hit the reset or power button.

Does anyone know why this is happening and how to resolve it? It's very annoying, and since it's a brand new install (only a week old) I really don't want to re-install all over again. Any help is appreciated.
