BSOD when I was about to start editing videos

Is Windows 7 . . .- x86 (32-bit) or x64 ?- the original installed OS on the system?- an OEM or full retail version?- OEM = came pre-installed on system- Full Retail = you purchased it from retailer - What is the age of system (hardware)?- What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?)
Windows 7 Ultimate
64 bit
Custom built PC. Had Windows XP Pro 32 bit before and it worked just fine
Full version

all components 3 - 4 years old except video card.
formatted last night and reinstalled last night.

Situation:
1. I opened Sony Vegas Movie Studio
2. I then got a java script error
3. clicked the folder button so I can browse to the videos
4. BSOD
Error code 1E, KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED. Usual causes: Device driver, hardware, System service, compatibility, Remote control programs, memory, BIOS
Outdated drivers can and cause memory corruption and BSOD's. Update the following drivers from the links provided. Two are really obsolete and are XP drivers.
cdrbsdrv.SYS Mon Feb 20 05:15:35 2006 - CD-ROM Filter Driver for B's Recorder GOLD by B.H.A Corporation. No Longer Available - found on a Toshiba Win7 system 05 Jul 2010. This is an XP driver and unlikely to work with Win 7. Uninstall this software.

netr28ux.sys Wed Aug 15 10:50:03 2007 - Ralink RT2870 series USB 802.11n Wireless Adapter Driver (you may have a different manufacturer). Ralink corp.. Update this driver or upgrade your wireless adpater to none compatible with Win 7.

nvstor.sys Wed May 20 02:45:37 2009 - nVidia Storage Drivers. Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers. Update this driver.
Update these drivers or uninstall the software/hardware they are associated with. Software and hardware designed for XP and not updated for Win 7 will not run well on Win 7 except in the XP mode. Reboot and see how your system runs. Post back and let us know. If you get anohter BSOD after taking care of these drivers, upload it and we will go from there.

KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (1e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Arguments:
Arg1: ffffffffc000001d, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: fffff80002880533, The address that the exception occurred at
Arg3: 0000000000000002, Parameter 0 of the exception
Arg4: fffff8000280c000, Parameter 1 of the exception

How do I uninstall that Filter driver? Don't I need it for my CD rom?

The USB wireless adapter is Belkin and I've already installed the lastest drivers. I just now installed the Ralink one and realized a bit late lol.

The nvidia driver I have is the latest driver already installed.

Worst case would be:
1. Buy a new CD ROM
2. Buy a new wireless USB
REALLY WORSE CASE:
3. Get a new Mobo, Ram, CPU (Nvidia driver)

Computer is officially down. It loads to the Windows starting screen and then 5 seconds later in BSODS every single time. So I'm unable to get any dumps.

What do you suggest?

I'm thinking to just upgrade to Windows 7 hardware just like my office did.

You can try renaming the driver from .sys to .old and reboot. The driver will not load. You can then see if your CD ROM still works.

YOu can try and see if there are updated drivers.

It is a Vista driver and may be OK with Win 7.

1 and 2 may be a necessity.

That, of course, is the best scenario if your wallet can stand it. A clean install on a new system should take care of the problems. In the long run it is the easiest, but the most expensive. And you would have an up to date system.

Post back and let us know what you decide.

Because I've been working on this for over 2 weeks and I need to render and burn 16 DVD's about 7 GB's each, by Wednesday which is in 2 days, I decided the easiest route. I kept a budget of $500 and purchased i5-760 CPU with a P55A-UD3 Mobo and G-Skill 8gb RAM. I didn't upgrade the CD rom and wireless USB yet. Just going with it to see how it behaves first, esp for any BSODS.

Steps:
1. Removed old hardware.
2. Installed new hardware.
3. Formatted system.
4. Reinstalled everything.

So far computer's been up for 2 days rendering a few videos and no BSODS.

One thing which is heaven is the new Quad core lowered my Rendering times from 2 hrs 21 mins to 47 mins.

Thank you so much for your help CarlTR6!!!
