BIG mistake, need help fast!

I was changing some file associations on my system (Win 7 Pro 64-bit), and accidentally associated .bat (batch) files with a new text editor. How do I change it back to normal. I have a few .bat files that I need to run as an administrator, but since they are now associated with a text editor, they open in it and don't run anymore. Please help

Just run a system restore to the point before you changed the file association.

This will allow you to restore the default registry entries and program associations for the Windows 7 file extension type of your choice.

Well, I don't have a restore point, because this is a fresh installation and all new software. I made an image of the drive last night, but that was AFTER I made the bad mistake. How can I reset the file extension to be opened and run by the system like it is supposed to be?

Well, I really appreciate the help on this problem. I hadn't created any restore point, so I just knew I didn't have any. But I went to Backup and Restore and discovered that there were quite a few restore points that I HADN'T created. I chose the newest one and it informed me that it would affect several programs, but none were important so it would just take a few minutes to reinstall them.

I ran the restore, and everything was back to normal. I just wasn't aware that Windows was making its own restore points. I've been a Linux geek for a long time now, because I hated the way Windows worked (or rather DIDN'T work) and hadn't used it in a long time. I skipped Vista altogether, but I am very quickly coming to like Windows 7 more and more each day.

Windows7 creates a restore point automatically every time you install or uninstall something (Program, Updates). It also creates one (I think) once per week - used to be once per day in Vista.
