    Blue Screen: probably GFX Related

    Hello,

For some time I've began to receive Blue screens , which are actually Black screens where sound is looping, but I receive a blue screen report after reboot.

The bluescreen has yet only occurred when playing computer games (No preformance demanding games, e.g. some CoD4). Therefor I believe this is graphic related. I have reinstalled Drivers and the OS but with no luck.

    Windows 7 is:
    Code:
    - x64
    - the original installed OS on the system
    - an OEM

    - Hardware age: Almost a Year
    - OS age: A couple of days
Hope you can help me, thank you.

    Hello and Welcome !

Seems like your Display drivers is causing the problem i.e. atikmdag.sys. Uninstall the Display drivers completely How to Completely Remove ATI Drivers | eHow.com then download the updated drivers and install it.

    Bughceck:

    Code:
    SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000007e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
    happening.
    Arguments:
Arg1: ffffffffc0000094, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: fffff88004a56d85, The address that the exception occurred at
    Arg3: fffff88005f02f78, Exception Record Address
    Arg4: fffff88005f027e0, Context Record Address

Thanks for the quick response. So the display drivers is the problem or could it be the whole Display Card?

I did reinstall the drivers before reformat and it didn't help should i try it again you mean?

Today the computer shutdown for the first time while not playing an actual game. What happened was that I had been playing around in a simple Flash 3D sandbox on the web but when i was done i closed it down. At this time I felt that the laptop was quite warm. What I did was that i tilted the laptop just a little bit to the back to grab a paper or something that was stuck under it and "poof" the screen turned black.
This is quite weird isn't it?

Later on I reinstalled the drivers for the card. I then ran the furmark stability test with a fan blower pointed at the GPU side of the laptop.
The temp peaked at something like:
    Code:
    GPU Diode (DispIO)	87 °C
    GPU Diode (MemIO)	84 °C
I then turned the fan blower off and the temperatures started to rise:
    Code:
    GPU Diode (DispIO)	98 °C
    GPU Diode (MemIO)	92 °C
When it had reached the value above I turned the fan on (Afraid that something would start to boil and get ruined)

The temperature landed at something like this
    Code:
    GPU Diode (DispIO)	94 °C
    GPU Diode (MemIO)	90 °C
So no blue screen turned up. However I'm not sure if the value would to go above 98 degrees while playing a game. I will try to get my hands on some canned air and see if the temps will improve.

The guarantee of the laptop runs out in a couple of weeks but I'm not sure if this is guarantee related.
