Computer Crash When Watching Full Screen Video through HDMI output

    Hi,

I've got a HP Pavilion dv6 with an AMD PhenomII N930 Quad Core Processor & ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 graphics card.

When I connect the computer to my Samsung LED TV (UN40B7000WFXZA LED) with an HDMI cable , everything works great until I play a video in full screen. As soon as I do, the computer crashes and I get a gray static looking screen and have to restart my computer. This only happens when the computer is hooked up to the tv and I'm not sure how to fix it.

Does anyone know what could be causing this problem?

    Any help would be appreciated!!!

Has it ever worked? If so chances are its the video driver. Un-install the current one and re-install a fresh copy

I have had the same issue. HP Dv4 7 64bit. Never have a issue when I don't use my LCD Samsung TV as my monitor. When I do have it hooked up to my TV (99.9%) of the time. Its very touchy! Crashes on playing of a video. Or If I pause a movie thats on my hard drive not a DVD, and try to play it again it crashes.

Reason I got this laptop was because of the HDMI output. Cause I use my TV as the monitor. I have re-installed ever driver and windows severals time as pre HP customer support to no avail. Has happened pre- Anti Virus software and after I have installed Mcafee. HP has finally said that it might be the HDMI port or mother board. I just have not sent it in for repair yet.

    Gets very fustrating
