    Crossfire BSOD 2x HD6850

    Hi guys,

I recently had a system built as follows:

CPU cooler:Xigmatek Gaia SD1283 CPU cooler
    AMD/IntelCPU:AMD Phenom II X6 Six Core 1090T 3.2Ghz 9MB socket AM3
    Motherboard:ASRock 890FX Deluxe4 socket AM3
    DVD drive 1:Samsung SH-S223C 22x DVD-RW Dual Layer SATA
    Memory:Kingston 2 x 2Gb DDR3 1333Mhz CL9
    GPU1:ATI HD6850 1Gb DDR5 PCI-express
    GPU2:ATI HD6850 1Gb DDR5 PCI-express
    HDD 1:Samsung F3 HD103SJ 1 Terabyte 32mb 7200rpm SATA2
    Solid State Disk:Crucial RealSSD 64Gb C300 2.5-inch SATA 6GB/s SATA3
    PSU:Be Quiet System Power 700W

I installed from ati latest 10.12 drivers + application profiles and in the meantime I tried also 10.10e (hotfix) + his respective application profiles. FYI OS: WIN7 x64 ultimate.

I have the following problem with Crossfire enabled in CatalystControlCentre, launching any game causes a BSOD. I did check the hardware, tested each GPU separate and no problems with that, bridge is on the cards, tried removing and installing other drivers multiple times but keep getting it,...

I've read for days internet fora and googled but I can't seem to find a solution.

Hi, MAT. Sorry I missed your update. I looked at your three most recent dumps. As you noted, all three are error code 3B and all three blame atikmdag.sys, your video driver, This driver is up to date. There is a good possibility that something is conflicting and causing the crashes.

To begin your troubleshooting, I recommend that you uninstall Daemon Tools. It uses a driver, found in your dump, sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs. Use this SPTD uninstaller when you're done: DuplexSecure - Downloads. Select uninstall; do NOT select reinstall.

Here is a free alternative CD virtualization program that does not use the sptd.sys driver.

    Freeware MagicISO Virtual CD/DVD-ROM(MagicDisc) Overview

I also recommend that you uninstall Magic Tune. The Magic Tune driver is outdated and obsolete. It is a known cause of BSOD's on Win 7. Even the Vista version of this driver does not seem to work on Win 7. You might want to read this thread: Samsung MagicTune incompatibilty.

I see that you are running Windows Defender. Windows Defender does not run well with Win 7. Download and install Microsoft Security Essentials. It supersedes Defender, offers better protection and runs very smoothly with Win 7. It will turn Windows Defender off. You don't have to do anything with Defender.

Follow these three suggestions and reboot. Let's see if this solves the problem. Post back and let us know. If you get another BSOD, please upload it and we will go from there.

Ok guys, thx for the response.

Unfortunately, I still got the BSOD. I followed both your instructions (10.10 drivers installed + corresponding application profiles for Crossfire). Removed Daemon tools, SPTD uninstall, uninstalled magictunes and installed live essentials...

    .Dmp in attachment...

Hopefully we're getting closer to the issue.

So again, problem only persists if Crossfire is enabled... Cards are checked separately.

Still a memory exception caused by your video drivers directX. I would run memtest just to make sure it isnt the ram

Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot. Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.
