Random bsods, tried almost everything!

Hello,

I already made this one on a dutch tweaking forum, but im so desperate and they aren't really into debugging the bsods.

Windows 7 Ultimate 64+
My computer (i7 920@2.6 stock atm (tried different voltages) had it stable overclocked a while back)
ASUS Rampage II Gene @ newest bios
OZC Gold 1600MHZ 6gb triple channel
ATI 6850 and a 4890xxx (bought a new gfx cause i thought it was the gfx(yea waste of money)
750watt corsair PSU

Pc is now 1 year old.

Did memory test 3times on all RAM's together, untill i started reading that it was the best to test them differently, i will test one tonight when ill go to sleep (ran 3 of them together for 12hours, 10hours and 8hour)

Anyway i also reinstalled it 5times, once i thought my hdd was overheating and that was causing the problems, but it wasn't. I also had another Copy of windows, so it aint the CD itself.

I also reinstalled it on another hdd now, so i have dual boot. (Neither that does help, last time first boot after reinstall "Windows installer has stopped working" with updating.

Also voltages and temps are ok, i will include some bsods i had on this install (ive got more on the second windows 7 partition)

I also tried with Onboard sound, lan off and something else off. Also that dind't do anything good

So now im thinking, it still could be my memory.. or motherboard/psu, but.. hope to get some more advice from you guys.

Already been struggeling one week!

(EDIT)

Now running atm with 2gb, if you see 2gb in some files its not a bug or 4gb that aint working, it isnt installed atm.

Hi, Duvel. Sorry you are having problems. I do find an almost guaranteed BSOD maker on your system.
Quote:
Code:
ASACPI.sys Sun Mar 27 22:30:36 2005
The 2005 version of this driver is a known BSOD cause.
Please visit this link: ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support- download_item_mkt
Scroll down to the Utilities category, then scroll down to the "ATK0110 driver for WindowsXP/Vista/Windows 7 32&64-bit " (it's about the 8th item down).
Download and install it.
Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers to check and make sure that the ASACPI.sys file is date stamped from 2009 or 2010 (NOT 2005).

Both dumps indicate memory corruption. Update ASACPI.sys and let's see if this solves the problem. The rest of your drivers look up to date.

Hey Carl,

Thank you for your "awesome" imput, i think it fixed it. (I saw that on both of my windows 7 install it had the old driver, and when i installed the new one it actually dind't bsod anymore.

But i said that many times, that it runs fine now.. even after buying a new gfx! so i will be hanging around abit untill im completely sure it doesnt crash.

Tho i had 2 windows installations which were both not really good, so i decided to remove both and install a new one (i had a bsod before it completed installation so i thought, well lets try again)

So last install directly after coming into windows i updated the driver, and then restarted again. Since then my system is actually running fine again (no problems installing any sort of thing)

And no "This program has stopped working"

So thanks for your imput already again, this makes my christmas better.. and im not kiddin!

Hope it stays this way!

You are very welcome. Merry Christmas. That is good news and I am glad your system is at least more stable. Post back in a couple of days and update us. If you are still BSOD free, we will ask the moderators to mark this thread as solved.

Hello again, hope you had a nice christmas!

My system did run actually today good but i dind't use it much, just some idle'ling (is that correct?:P) no bsods anything.

Anyway i had 2bsods yesterday out of nowhere, I noticed my SB/NB was also very "dusty" and i really need to clear it out i guess. Also the NB/SB are always quite hot on my motherboard (mATX)

Tomorrow i will take my pc apart and clean it out with compressed air, hope this fixes something.

So if you have the time to check into the last 2 bsods, i have more installed atm maybe u find something new.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Duvel; I did have a nice Christmas and I hope you did also.

Heat can certainly cause BSOD's. When you you say the NB/SB is quite hot, how hot? I see that you monitor your temps with CPUZ. Are any temps at or above the manufacturer's recommended max temp? Do a thorough cleaning with compressed air and try running with the side panel off and and fan blowing toward the motherboard. See if that makes a difference.

Both of your recent BSOD's indicate memory corruption. One blames your video driver. I suggest that you test your video card with Furmark following the instructions in this tutorial: Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark. Post back with the results.

Next test your RAM with Memtest86 following the instructions in this tutorial:
RAM - Test with Memtest86+. Run Memtest from a cold boot after your computer has been off for an hour or two. Let it run for at least 7 passes. This will take 6-8 hours. If you see errors, you can stop the test. Post back with the results.

Windows 7 64

Hello and thanks for your imput again Carl,

The thing is i did run couple of memtests already few days ago, one for 13.5 hours and one for 10 hours and another one for 7 hours straight and no errors were found.

But all with all ram sticks at the same time inside, and also after using the pc so not a cold boot.

Then i heard people adviced to test 1 at the time, but i still had the windows problem with 1 ram. (Dindt find any errors with memtest on that one)
So i tried another one because they can't be both wrong (i guess 70% chance) and also with the other ram stick it gave me windows errors/bsod/fatal error wow.

The thing is it dind't crash but those 2 bsod's so i guess its running quite ok again now, but i still have some problems with WoW (yes i know :<) that it fatal errors on me.

No problems with any other sort of programs tho.

Futhermore the ATI drivers i got now are quite "preview" drivers but they are the best i can get for my videocard (6870). I heard more people getting BSODS with that driver too bad.

I dind't have time to clean out my pc yet, will do that tomorrow morning i guess. My nb/sb will get around 60degrees but then i already have a fan on it (i have this odd HWmonitor pro now where i can't see the temps of them, i could before (actually the same program).
I'll report back when ill bsod again and still looking for how to fix my wow problem.

Thanks again.

"edit"

got a new bsod ive never seen, got it as attachment!

If RAM is the problem, your system should run better with only one RAM stick - unless that RAM stick is bad. Run Memtest from a cold boot with all sticks in place. Memtest does not run from within Windows and can't give a Windows error. If it crashes, there is a hardware problem.

Did you run Furmark to test your graphics card?

Quote:
Error code DE, POOL_CORRUPTION_IN_FILE_AREA. Usual causes: Device driver, ?Memory.
I recommend that you test your RAM with Memtest86. Follow the instructions in this tutorial: RAM - Test with Memtest86+. Run Memtest from a cold boot after your computer has been off for an hour or two. Let it run for a minimum of 7 passes. This will take 6-8 hours. You can stop Memtest if you see errors. Post back with your results.

If Memtest shows no errors, enable Driver Verifier following the instructions in this tutorial: Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable. Read this tutorial carefully. Driver Verifier will trigger a BSOD if it finds a faulty driver. Upload any and all Verifier enabled dumps.

Hello again,

Thanks for your imput, ive already done some memtests few days ago and it never found anything. But still it looks to me that it is the memory which is causing the BSODS.

I did one with cold boot to 6.5 passes, but guess that ain't enough.
But i did turn off the pc for 30mins last night and then ran it for 8.5 hours with 8passes and no errors. Hope the 30mins were enough. (also had 13.5 hour memtest last week with no cold boot and no errors)

So it's still strange memtest+ aint finding anything.

I did put on verifier and i did crash indeed so ill attach it and hope you can make something out of it, i dind't verify the microsoft drivers tho.

Thanks in advance again!

You can turn off Driver Verifier. Both of these dumps blame pool corruption which is a memory error. Test your CPU and your RAM with Prime95 following the instructions in this tutorial: https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...t-prime95.html. Run 3 separate tests, one on each of the settings (Blend, Small FFTs, Large FFTs). Post back with your results.
