    BSOD "driver_irql_not_less_or_equal" at random times.

    Hello,

For Christmas yesterday I got a brand new Windows 7 laptop (Toshiba Satellite) and ever since I have started using it I've been getting the BSOD saying, "driver_irql_not_less_or_equal" It happens at random times, mostly browsing the internet/starting up. I have done virus/malware checks using Security Essintals and Malwarebytes, and nothing popped up, so I don't think it's a virus. Please help

You need to update this driver - it's not that old.

There are two causes your atheros wlan driver and ataport.sys

Please re-install the atheros driver and run a system file check for the ataport.sys
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

type device manager in search>go to the network tab and expand it> see what drivers are there. the atheros driver there is the one you need to re-install/ update

    How To Find Drivers:
    - search Google for the name of the driver
    - compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
    - visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
    - if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.
    - - The most common drivers are listed on this page: Driver Reference Driver Reference
    - - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: Drivers and Downloads

I found the driver, but I do not know where to go from here. I will attach the driver so someone can have a peek and hopefully tell me how to use it.
