    Mmm....the only thing I can think of is perhaps there are artefacts of a bad driver still left in the system.

    Try this:

    1. Use DriverSweeper Guru3D - Driver Sweeper to clean out your old nVidia drivers.
    2. Reboot the PC
    3. Re-install the latest driver from Nvidia

    Does that fix things?

    i uninstalled the video card, then rebooted, this time win7 booted normally so it could install video card again.

    now running speccy.......
    cpu running at 54 deg C and did get as high as 60

    Ok. We are getting somewhere.

    The tempratures on your card are a little bit high : my nVidia GTS250 runs at 43 degrees Celcius. How does your cooling arrangement look inside your case? It helps considerably to dust it out and give it a good clean.

    everything looks very clean, but that temp was for motherboard cpu, not the card

    ok,
    i've run driver sweep.......
    re-installed LATEST drivers for card, now re-booting

    and it's still doing the same things as before

    i have to go out for about half an hour, to pick my daughter up from melbourne, will be back soon.

    OK. What temperature is the card running at? The CPU temperatures are still too high. These are mine

    ok, to get speccy to work i have to boot in safe mode, then uninstall the video card, then reboot to get win7 to boot normal

    when i'm booting into win7 i'm getting a message.............

    Gamer HUD,
    Init Fail. Maybe the Driver don't install!

    all 4 cpu cores are hovering around 50-55 deg C
