BSoD 0x0000003b

Hi,

I brought a brand new Toshiba A660 laptop from a retail store a couple months ago.

While using the latest IMVU (v450.0), my machine randomly blue screens once or twice during the session.

Others on IMVU forums who are having the same problem as me are also using Windows 7. Once they downgrade to Win XP, the BSoD stops.

I have contacted Toshiba who blame IMVU for software incompatibility. Toshiba say the laptop is not covered under warranty as they claim the fault is with IMVU. Toshiba stated that replacing the current graphics card is not the solution as there is nothing wrong with the current card. Seems to me that they do not want to take the blame and I feel helpless, ripped-off and stuck this with high-end laptop that isn't doing what its designed for.

I do not want to run recovery disk (as Toshiba suggested) as few others on IMVU forums have stated that that does not work.
I do not want to use an older version of IMVU as the latest version is needed to perform tasks that the later versions lack.

Please guide me through the procedures needed to stop the blue screens while using IMVU.

Thanks in advance.

Hate to say it but your IMVUClient.exe is causing all of these. It is causing a memory exception. Just in case run memtest to check yours.

I would remove it

Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot. Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

Hi, readayan, and welcome to the forum. I looked at your three most recent dumps. All three are error code 3B, system service exception. All three dumps blame ntkrnlmp.exe, which is one of the Windows system core files and very likely not the real cause. The dumps indicate memory corruption. Since no real cause is pointed out, you will have to troubleshoot.

I suggest you begin by uninstalling Avira. Avira is known to cause BSOD's on some Win 7 systems. Once you get your system stable, you can try it again. While you are troubleshooting, download and install Microsoft Security Essentials. MSE is very unlikely to cause conflicts and BSOD's.

I see you are running Comodo firewall. Keep it for now. Comodo usually runs well with Win 7 although it has been known to cause problems on some Win 7 systems.

You also have out of date drivers loaded on your system. Outdated drivers can cause conflicts memory corruption and BSOD's. Those in red font are quite obsolete. Update the following drivers from links provided.

WacomVKHid.sys Thu Feb 15 18:10:54 2007 - Wacom(tablet) HID filter. Wacom Hardware Drivers. update this driver.
Note   Note
Renaming drivers:create a restore point, using Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers, locate the driver files, and rename them from .sys to .old. Reboot and the drivers will not load. This will break whatever software or hardware these drivers are associated with.

Follow these suggestion. If you need help with the drivers, please post.
