    BSOD Started a week ago

    Hi all!

Need some help in trying to analyze the problem with my comp. Have been having this issue for less than a week. Initially, it started off with the comp just shutting off on it's own and rebooting. Since then I have unchecked the reboot automatically option and yet I still don't get an error message. I got this error when I ran prime95 and had a movie on.

ADD: Also, so you know I had to force this BSOD. What is actually happening is that the computer will suddenly go black and then reboot without any sort of crash report. I've read on these forums that it could be my vid card and I just noticed that my vid card fan wasn't running but the temp according to CPUID was constantly 61 degrees celsius and maxing out at 81 celsius when playing games (ex Mafia II). I've since installed msi afterburner and forced the videocards fan to stay on and now the temp is at 46 celsius. Could it be the video card? Maybe the psu?

    Current specs..

    i930 oc'd to 3.5ghz
    6 gigs of ram
    Gigabyte GA X58A-UD3R
ati-hd 5970 (recently updated to most current drivers)
    Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit
    Antec CP-1000 (power supply)
    Noctua Aircooler
Please let me know if there is anything else that you need to know.

    Thanks in advance!

This crash doesnt give definitive information but some indirect conclusions can be made.

1-it is a memory exception caused by either a plugin container or wmiaspi.sys.
    run memtest

Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot. Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

2-Plugin container (if firefox) it is an errant add-on. Try running firefox in safe mode to test

3-If it is wmiaspi.sys I would update the BIOS (MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A BACKUP) and run a system file check

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
