Can anyone suggest how to get my system working.I have a sony vaio FZ series laptop.

    Hello,

Try taking the hard drive out, and installing it in another machine. If it is detected, copy all your data over to the other machine.

If it's not detected, purchase a new drive.

Maybe take your VAIO Laptop to a VAIO Service Center. (may do a research on the Sony Website) on whereabouts to find a service center - may replace HDD for you.

I was going to suggest removing and reseating the HDD. This happened to me with a Dell. It died eventually but at least I was able to get what I needed off of it first.
