Daily system auto restarts / bsod
I have a new gaming system I purchased from IBUYPOWER in Dec 2010.
Since first turning it on I would come in to pc next day and it would be a black screen post bios stating boot drive not available. I would alt - ctrl - del and reboot and it would not find boot drive. Next I would go to bios and the primary system / boot drive (c) would be missing in bios, also missing in intel ich10 raid bios screen. I then would turn pc off via power button and turn it back on and it would now see missing hard drive / boot c drive. I would still have to go back to bios to tell bios which hd was boot hd (reset boot order) because this setting would not remain after the system restarted itself and had "the problem" overnight.
I began to work with IBUYPOWER and first I went through the following tests:
1) reloaded windows 7 and tried to download latest drivers for all devices / motherboard, etc
2) made acronis image of this clean install with latest drivers
3) tried changing which ssd hard drive is boot c drive via acronis ( i have two ssd 64gb , one as c drive, one as d / data drive for games)
4) changed sata cables for the boot c drive, changed sata ports for boot c drive
5) changed bios setting from raid (no raid configured on asus, just raid on bios with no raid setup on intel ich10r bios screen) to ahci
After doing the above and same auto reboots with stuck boot screen still happening, IBUYPOWER began sending rma parts. First we did the adata ssd s599 hard drive. Installed, clean windows install..etc... same problem.
Next they rma'd the asus motherboard. Two days after I carefully installed ...same thing. Auto restart with screen at post bios "no boot drive" on screen.
Only one time has and actual dump file been created, I have attached as requested. Points to memory (I think).
Last night after reviewing my windows settings I noticed that auto restart was set in case of crash / dump file.
I removed that setting and over night, I believe the same auto restart happened but in AM I had a blue screen. Oddly enough no dump or mini dump is created, just stuck at blue screen 0x00000f4.........
Its same looking bsod as the only dump file that has acutally been made in past.
I also wanted to mention I orginally had the asus bios setup by IBUYPOWER as their default settings with no real overclocking. The problems were happening with no overclocking. Since then just to see if it was their settings causing an issue I have setup overclocking with default asus easy settings of 975 extreme (you set this in bios and it sets all settings based on its database). I stress tested, checked temps, it all looked great. After today and the same auto restarts/blue screens happening I set the asus bios to gaming and auto which is non overclock. I dont think the bios settings where the issue at all but I just dont want to take any chances.
I am a pretty good troubleshooter and although I am dissapointed this is happening with my brand new gaming rig, I know these type of things can happend and I am looking forward to solving it. I would really appreciate an expert to review my files to advise what they think could be a solution or path to go on.
My next step is to call IBUYPOWER to get them to RMA the memory.
I am just cautiuos that it could be a software / driver issue.
Basic system info as follows:
Win 7 Pro 64bit
dec 2010 gaming rig
12gb v-color 1600mhz ram
asus rampage III gene motherboard
casegears 650 w power supply
evga / nvidia gtx 460 gpu
i7 950
ibuypower 92mm water cooling for cpu
Thanks for looking at my problem in advance!!
