Admin problems.

I am having issues changing my files. on some actions it tells me to provide admin permission so when i do it says access is denied. i am the admin and the only account on the computer. did i not set something up right on install? has anyone dealt with this before?

Are the files from a previous install?

Besides the Q above.

If you are tying to access your user files though "C:\Documents and Settings" then don't. The files are all now located at "C:\Users\<user name>". If there is a "C:\Documents and Settings" folder it is for backwards compatibility with older apps and you can't manipulate files in it directly any more (in fact the folder may not acutally exist, it is only created when necessary for old programs). All the files you might see under there are really stored under your user folder.

Well one issue, folders cannot be marked read only or read/write. It's been that way since at least XP. The fact that it LOOKS like it is marked read only is an aritfact. Windows uses that flag for something internal, I forget what now. But the bottom line is, that setting is not and never has been settable, though in windows 7 you may get an actual eror message about it.
