Things have been great lately. No BSOD. No black screen except for this morning, we had several power outages due to the winter storm coming through Indiana. The computer went into hibernate again and i had to manually restart but i understand why... i think

That is good news. Hopefully, the storm shouldn't be that serious...

You cannot boot into the safe mode? Can you boot with your Win 7 CD? If you can, download Malwarebytes, install it, update it and run a scan. Let's make sure you do not have nasty lurking about.

When i was on the phone with HP tech support they asked me to boot in safe mode and it didnt work. I unfortunately do not have a Win7 disc. This unit was refurbished from HP so it didnt come with one. Im running and Malware scan now. Ill keep you posted

EDIT: according the Malware scan there is nothing infecting the computer, however im now doing a full scan and i have 1 infected item so ill wait to complete this scan

This is the second time today that ive had Black Screen and whats difficult about it is that i dont have the CTRL+ALT+DELETE options or a curser! I booted it in Safe Mode and went through the repair option but it said a problem couldnt be detected?

Last night I turned off the password, I have my screensaver set for 10mins. I turned the monitor off. over night. I come into the office, turn the monitor on and the windows password screen was up and it said "LOCKED" instead of the password prompt section. I hit the arrow to take me to explorer or the desktop and it was black screen all over again!

I ran the sfc /scannow 3 times as suggested and it said that nothing was found. I even did the sfc /varifyonly just for good measure and stuff nothing. Im really not sure what to do at this point. Id hate to restore everything. It took me 5 hours to set this up and im not sure what point id restore it to considering its refurbished from HP.
