Thanks for pointing me to that thread. After reading through it I think I might actually have a faulty video card. I don't think it's overheating because I only ever encounter the crash after I bring the computer out of sleep. I might throw my old one back in there and leave it in for a while to see if it crashes.

So I am pretty sure my 6870 is faulty. After reinstalling my 5770 a week ago I haven't gotten the crash again. I've tried somewhat stress-testing it, leaving tons of youtube videos open before I let it go into sleep, and haven't seen it. Looks like I'll be RMA'ing the 6870.
