Received a BSOD! - Please help

Hello everyone and Greetings from Down Under!,

Recently I've installed Windows 7 as a dual boot to Windows XP (Windows XP was first) . Windows 7 works fine while I am using it, but after leaving it for a while, ie it sits idle or I go away from the computer for a bit, I come back and I get a BSOD. Initially it was another BSOD but we diagnosed it and applied a MS patch.

Yesterday though we got a power related BSOD. ( DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE) I have no idea why its doing it. I've got all the files which are requested to help try find my problem.

the zip contains the stuff from the Collection app and Perfmon /report.

If you need anything else please just ask

Thanks in advance

- x86 (32-bit) or x64 ?
- x86 Windows 7

- the original installed OS on the system?
- Windows XP (currently dual booting Windows XP / Windows 7)

- an OEM or full retail version?
- OEM Version

- What is the age of system (hardware)?
Motherboard is GA-M61p-S3,(updated to latest bios) CPU is Phenom II x945, 3 x Seagate Hdds

- What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) 2 Weeks old for Windows 7

Thank you so much in advance and appreciate any help any one can give me

Hello,

Update those drivers, especially the 1996. Old drivers can cause BSOD.

Uninstall Software - they use an old driver which is one of the most cause of BSOD.

Thank you DeanP,

I dont have a need for that software so I have just uninstalled it.

If its ok with you, I will monitor the computer and give you an update in a day or 2 to see if the BSOD occurs again (hopefully not.. ).

Thank you so much again. really appreciate your quick response.

Will keep you posted.

Further to DeanP....

Norton is known to be a cause of BSOD's on some Win 7 systems. I suggest that you uninstall Norton using the Norton Removal Tool in Safe Mode until your issue is resolved. Download Blue Screen friendly Microsoft Security Essentials as its replacement. Make sure Windows firewall is enabled!

Your nVidia storage driver pre-dates Win7 and is specifically mentioned.

When everything is sorted you can reinsall the latest version of Speedfan if you wish as it no longer uses that 14 year old driver (giveio).

Thank you guys so much, the computer worked fine since then.

However, it has suddenly came back.

I have only installed MS Office 2007 since then.. I have looked up these two files and the graphics driver is upto date according to the Nvidia site.

The storage driver I could not find an update for. If you guys know where I can get the updated driver (ive also looked on nvdia site, no luck)
I'd appreciate it...

additionally I have submitted my two new minidumps if that is ok.. sincere thanks for all your help.
