28 Jan 2011   #1

Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit
Back with BSOD

so... let's see i installed windows 7 x64 like a week ago or something after i bought another 2gb ram module
everything was good, tonight watched a movie , movie ended few minutes later computer shutdown
started computer bsod
ran driver verifier for more bsod's, i got bsod every time but they weren't saved like the first one, probably because they were the same i reckon?

Windows 7 x64

I'm seeing tcpip.sys failing.
My debugger is acting up on me though so I don't have a full report, need to reinstall again apparently.
I'm guessing network driver caused it. perhaps someone else can be a little more specific.
edit : nevermind memory corruption.

Hi betrayed.

Maguscreed is right, your dump file does point to memory corruption with a stop error 0x3B.

Usual causes:
System service, Device driver, graphics driver, ?memory.

You also have drivers installed that will cause problems that may display themselves as memory corruption.
You should get these sorted so there is a lesser chance of conflict.

Avira is known to be a cause of BSOD's on some Win 7 systems.
Uninstall Avira and download BSOD friendly Microsoft Security Essentials as its replacement. Make sure Windows firewall is enabled!

The sptd.sys driver is notorious for causing BSOD's with Windows 7. It's used by Daemon Tools /Alcohol 120 which will also have to be uninstalled.
Then use the correct (either 32bit or 64bit) download from Duplex Secure to uninstall in Safe Mode.
Make sure to select uninstall!

Many people were having issues with Catalyst 10.12, which is what you currently have installed. Update to the new version following these guidelines.
Download Catalyst v11.1.
Download and install Driver Sweeper.
Boot to Safe Mode
Uninstall current Catalyst set up.
Run Driver Sweeper to clean up any left overs.
Install your new Catalyst v11.1.
Reboot to Normal Mode.

Uninstall SPTD again, but don't reinstall it. If the BSODs persist, upload a jcgriff2 report.

I personally use MagicDisc, although I can't remember why!

Virtual CloneDrive is another STPD-free alternative, also highly rated.

Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Hello, Unhappy to see you still having troubles again!

Looked over it as you requested betrayed, everything seems to have been covered, and anytime your inducing a BSOD from driver verifier, typically its a driver obviously in your case it was SPTD.

Windows 7 is really weird with quite a few applications, especially if your running x64. But glad you got it worked out :)

Back-to-back BSoD
About 10 minutes ago I was starting to experience back-to-back BSoD, making this thread in hopes another doesn't happen as I do so. I have no idea what is causeing it, but it could possibly be "Evga Precision X" I installed yesterday to improve my GPU cooling since "automatic mode" never goes above...
