BSOD Crashes, driver related?

I have not crashed for 24 hours. What are some things I can to do stress drivers? I've tried running tons of things. I had wmp, youtube, other various video/audio hosting sites, video games, browsers all running at the same time, but no crash.

The crashes seem to happen at times when it doesn't seem like I'm doing anything in particular and usually 2 or 3 times within an hour and at other times it will go several days with no crash.

I have noticed that my last.fm scrobbler has not been working for a while, could that have something to do with it?

Finally got another crash today, hopefully I have the right information in my dumps. It crashed today while I was playing around with last.fm, wmp, and winamp.

I'm looking at my event log, and just before the crash there was an error, "The performance strings in the Performance registry value is corrupted when process Performance extension counter provider. The BaseIndex value from the Performance registry is the first DWORD in the Data section, LastCounter value is the second DWORD in the Data section, and LastHelp value is the third DWORD in the Data section."

and also, "Unloading the performance counter strings for service WmiApRpl (WmiApRpl) failed. The first DWORD in the Data section contains the error code."

Now, I don't claim to be a 'tech whiz' so I'm hesitant to do anything without fully understanding what's going on. Should I try this 'Hotfix'?
