    Frequent BSOD Need Help

    HI,

Thanks for the help in advance.

I built this computer for my daughter for Christmas 2010 and there have been many BSODs.

Running Ultimate 64 with xonar d1 and nvidia 8800 GTS.

I have run Memtest86 for 12 hours and no errors.

I have attached the required info as requested.

Hi nipsip and welcome to the forum. I looked at your four most recent dumps and all blame or indicate memory corruption. They do not give us a specific cause. This mean you will have to do some troubleshooting.

Update this driver or uninstall the Blackberry software.
RimSerial_AMD64.sys Mon Nov 24 12:01:01 2008 - Virtual Serial Port driver for Blackberry. Research In Motion - Products.
Run CheckDisk on all of her hard drives -
Run CHKDSK /R /F from an elevated (Run as adminstrator) Command Prompt. Please do this for each hard drive on your system.
When it tells you it can't do it right now - and asks you if you'd like to do it at the next reboot - answer Y (for Yes) and press Enter. Then reboot and let the test run. It may take a while for it to run, but keep an occasional eye on it to see if it generates any errors. See "CHKDSK LogFile" below in order to check the results of the test.

    Elevated Command Prompt:
Go to Start and type in "cmd.exe" (without the quotes)
At the top of the Search Box, right click on Cmd.exe and select "Run as administrator"

    CHKDSK LogFile:
Go to Start and type in "eventvwr.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter
Expand the Windows logs heading, then select the Application log file entry.
Double click on the Source column header.
Scroll down the list until you find the Chkdsk entry (wininit for Windows 7) (winlogon for XP).

Copy/paste the results into your next post.

Enable Driver Verifier carefully following the instructions in this tutorial: Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable. Have your daughter use her computer normally while Verifier is running. Please warn her that if Verifier encounters a faulty driver, it will trigger a BSOD. Upload any and all Driver Verifier enabled dumps.

    KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (1e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
    Arguments:
Arg1: ffffffffc0000005, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: fffff800030cfb6b, The address that the exception occurred at
    Arg3: 0000000000000001, Parameter 0 of the exception
    Arg4: 0000000000003c6b, Parameter 1 of the exception

Your hard drive appears to be fine; you have no bad sectors. Bad drivers can cause all sorts of conflicts.

Your latest two dumps are not Driver Verifier enabled dumps. One blames memory corruption and the other blames your video driver, nvlddmkm.sys, which may not be the real cause, and indicates memory corruption. Have you taken care of this driver: RimSerial_AMD64.sys Mon Nov 24 12:01:01 2008? It shows up in one dump, but not the other. That driver may be the source of your conflict. Update it or uninstall the Blackberry software, reboot and see how your system does. If you get another BSOD, try again to enable Driver Verifier and upload the dump file.

    KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (1e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
    Arguments:
Arg1: ffffffffc0000005, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: fffff800030cfb6b, The address that the exception occurred at
    Arg3: 0000000000000001, Parameter 0 of the exception
    Arg4: 0000000000003c6b, Parameter 1 of the exception

    SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000007e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
    happening.
    Arguments:
Arg1: ffffffffc0000005, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: fffff80002c82634, The address that the exception occurred at
    Arg3: fffff88002fc38b8, Exception Record Address
    Arg4: fffff88002fc3120, Context Record Address

    Hi,

I have removed all traces of the RIM Blackberry program from the computer and have activated driver verifier. I thought I had before but I had a BSOD when I restarted, so it was not on. Now it is and I will post when there is another BSOD. I have also updated the Nvidia driver.

    Thanks for your help.

Good job! And you are very welcome.

Driver Verifier will trigger a BSOD if it finds a faulty driver. Be sure to upload all Verifier enabled dumps. Use your computer normally while Verifier is running.
