    System Won't Bootup

I just figured out one problem to run into another. After figuring out that the MB was bad and needed replaced all was well for a couple of weeks. Everything was working fine until one day I needed to reboot after updating my anti-virus when things went bad again.

Here is the symptom: upon restart (or even a cold start) the computer power button lights up, the power indicator turns on, the wifi light turns on, and the DVD drive begins to be work, but nothing else happens. No other lights, like on the media panel, the screen doesn't come on, then fan will work occasionally, and it will just stay that way until I hit the power button to turn it off.

On occasion, the computer will beep. Not every time, but occasionally. I was able to get it to beep a few minutes ago and wrote down the pattern. It beeps 3 times (first longer beep followed by 2 short ones) and it did this 6X in rapid succession. Then it finally ended on the 7th time with one long beep and 1 short beep. I waited a few minutes and tried again. The next time it was a continuously loud "beep" with no pauses.

    Here's what I've tried:

    1. Take out the RAM and put both sticks back in. No change.
    2. Take out one stick of RAM and the swap them out to check for bad RAM. No change.
    3. Take the HDD out and reinstall to see if there was a loose connection. No change.

Oh, if I wait a while and start the system up, it will boot up usually. However, I can put it to sleep/hibernate and it never has any problems as I work on it all day. It's just restarting or shutting down and turning on immediately afterwards is the problem.

This is the system I have.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Let's give the laptop a chance to rest, this really is sounding like a hardware issue from your description. Unplug AND remove the battery and just let it sit for a bit. 10-15 minutes. Though it's possible you've already done this while pulling the hardware.

Next I would find your windows disk to be prepared to do a startup repair.
First though I would follow these two steps in case there is a easy fix.
    Disk Check
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

I just tried letting it sit for about an hour and tried powering it up. This time all the lights came on, but nothing else happened. The screen never flickered or tried to come on. It seemed like it tried to boot up but never finished.

If I put the windows DVD will it boot up or not since it's not even getting to the "Toshiba" screen?

Tried again... nothing. I just thought of trying to put the old MB back in and seeing if it boots up. If it does, that would mean I have new-bad MB right? If it doesn't then there is another problem correct? Just thinking of ways to troubleshoot if it won't even turn on.

Yeah what we are looking at now is not a windows issue, (without a boot post windows isn't even coming into the equation) this represents a hardware issue with the computer. It could be something as simple as a bad bios battery. Or it could be more significant. Unfortunately without a screen post there is little we can do to properly diagnosis it via the internet. It would all be conjecture at this point. Problems could range anywhere from power supply failure, to complete motherboard failure... to something as simple as the aforementioned battery.
