System Won't Bootup
I just figured out one problem to run into another. After figuring out that the MB was bad and needed replaced all was well for a couple of weeks. Everything was working fine until one day I needed to reboot after updating my anti-virus when things went bad again.
Here is the symptom: upon restart (or even a cold start) the computer power button lights up, the power indicator turns on, the wifi light turns on, and the DVD drive begins to be work, but nothing else happens. No other lights, like on the media panel, the screen doesn't come on, then fan will work occasionally, and it will just stay that way until I hit the power button to turn it off.
On occasion, the computer will beep. Not every time, but occasionally. I was able to get it to beep a few minutes ago and wrote down the pattern. It beeps 3 times (first longer beep followed by 2 short ones) and it did this 6X in rapid succession. Then it finally ended on the 7th time with one long beep and 1 short beep. I waited a few minutes and tried again. The next time it was a continuously loud "beep" with no pauses.
Here's what I've tried:
1. Take out the RAM and put both sticks back in. No change.
2. Take out one stick of RAM and the swap them out to check for bad RAM. No change.
3. Take the HDD out and reinstall to see if there was a loose connection. No change.
Oh, if I wait a while and start the system up, it will boot up usually. However, I can put it to sleep/hibernate and it never has any problems as I work on it all day. It's just restarting or shutting down and turning on immediately afterwards is the problem.
This is the system I have.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
