Blue Screen - Windows fails to boot

Hi there, I've had my Pc, which is an Acer Aspire M5201 for some time. My previous OS was vista and I never had any problems with my computer until about after four or five months, at which point it was too late to send back and simply get a new one because I had already taken off the case and hadn't realised that the warranty sticker was in a position where it could break, so I messed that up. Anyway, I'm not exactly computer illiterate so I decided to try and fix things myself.

Now the main problem with my pc before i installed windows 7, about two days ago is that my computer used to freeze during games, and I thought this is because my gfx card was poor, because most games that I was trying to run indicated that this was where my pc was lagging.

This was my previous card

Nvidia 9500 gs.

I therefore upgraded to an ATI Radeon HD5670 and my games run so much better than before, much faster etc.

However, my computer did still freeze on occasion and I assumed that this may be because I was running vista, and several people told me to upgrade to windows 7.

So my girlfriend, who has an acer laptop had an acer windows 7 upgrade dvd which said that my pc was compaitible (because it gae you a list of models) - so i tried to upgrade, the upgrade failed and therefore I had to do a complete format.

So having installed windows 7 I'm extremely pleased with it because everything does run faster etc.

Yet the main problem is now when i load up windows, randomly i get certain errors but in the end i always manage to get on to windows (touch wood).

So the errors i get are

a disk error has occurred, press cntrl alt del to continue

If I don't get this error I then get

Launch start up repair (recommended)
Start windows normally

Now, what sometimes happens is if i choose either option, it says

Windows is loading files - then it breaks comes up with an error

If it doesn't do that then usually the repair doesn't achieve anything, so I usually try just to start windows and then it randomly came on.

Now one of these errors seems to occur everytime i turn off my pc. I read other forums, thought hmm perhaps it's my ram so i tried one stick of ram in a different slot which wasn't being used

This worked, I restarted 4 or 5 times

I tried the other stick on its own

Again same thing.

I tried both of them in different slots

This worked again.

I rebooted - Breaks

I rebooted - works

So i thought hmm perhaps it's because I can only have one at a time, so i tried that and it still randomly comes on or fails. So i'm assuming it's coincidence? Either way I'm gutted and I desperately need this to work for uni purposes, so any advice will be great.

i have also located the dump files from the blue screen errors I've recieved (which btw i recieved if windows doesn't start, but NOT all the time.) How do i upload these files?

ATI graphics drivers are causing the crash from the look of the dumps.
If you are using the new beta it's known to sometimes cause this.

It could also be possible AVG is causing the problem it's weird like that sometimes , you can try disabling it for a bit first to see if it's the problem)
Consistently seeing the ati driver as the source of the problem though.

Yeah I took this advice and first looked in device manager and it comes up with my card

ATI Radeon HD 5670 and

HD Radeon HD 3200

I've never had the latter and I don't even understand why it's there but it wasn't installed properly, has an ! by it.

So, I uninstalled that card and rebooted - windows loaded up correctly (I wanted to try this before I reinstalled the drivers)

However, now that i've booted up it's tried to search for that card again, and said it failed to install Radeon HD 3200 - what the hell?
