Windows 7: BSOD 1044 (Minidump attached)

A couple of threads to read, no doubt you have!!

BSOD two recent crashes tcpip.sys and e1q62x64

ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Forum- Bluescreening Like Crazy

Consensus seems to be to buy a PCIe NIC. Not a good solution to an inheent problem though!

Not sure about editing the install folder. But, if it was me, I'd be giving it a go I think. After backing up with Macrium, System Restore etc. etc..

The people buying a PCIe NIC is simply just giving up to soon, i would do it aswell and will maybe do it if i cant come up with a fix, but i feel like i'm really close, and it seems from Intel customer forums that they are aware of the problem, but simply haven't fixed it in their driver updates yet.
In other news I haven't bluescreened in 5 hours or so, only 1 bluescreen since i used the windows tcpip hotfix.

One question about system restore, when i create a restore point, it seems to disappear after some time? Any clues as to why this happens? I thought the restore point would be there forever? ;o

All I can say about system restore points is they last forever.......

Until you want one!!

SR's can disappear through: over zealous cleaners, virus, lack of space, and for other unknowns. That's why I use Macrium Reflect every fortnight at the least with a saved backup of my clean, basic system (all updates at that time, Photoshop, ESET, Mbam, etc.).

And you're right about the wimps! Bet they couldn't eat a peperami!

I just got a reply from Intel customer service! I'll keep you updated, meanwhile, if anyone has any input on the matter go'on and spew it here !

I can confirm that i've now gone about 15 hours without having a single crash, can't rule it out yet but my system seems to be alot more stable after I applied the fix. I downloaded in total 13 gigabyte with 1.3mpbs the entire time without crashing, while being in opera, talking on skype and playing a game(at times).

I only had 1 bluescreen since i applied the fix and that was about 30 minutes after i applied it, restarted uploaded the dump here and haven't bluescreened since.

Give a sfc /scannow test to verify and repair OS files. (dump blames Windows Core file which is unlikely to be the real cause). (tcpip.sys).

If problem persists, enable Driver Verifier. (see quote below)
Using Driver Verifier is an iffy proposition. Most times it'll crash and it'll tell you what the driver is. But sometimes it'll crash and won't tell you the driver. Other times it'll crash before you can log in to Windows. If you can't get to Safe Mode, then you'll have to resort to offline editing of the registry to disable Driver Verifier.

So, I'd suggest that you first backup your stuff and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Win7 Startup Repair feature).

In Windows 7 you can make a Startup Repair disk by going to Start....All Programs...Maintenance...Create a System Repair Disc - with Windows Vista you'll have to use your installation disk or the "Repair your computer" option at the top of the Safe Mode menu .

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
NOTE: You can use Low Resource Simulation if you'd like. From my limited experimentation it makes the BSOD's come faster.
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out. If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation (an estimate on my part).

Reboot into Windows (after the crash) and turn off Driver Verifier by going back in and selecting "Delete existing settings" on the first page, then locate and zip up the memory dump file and upload it with your next post.

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.

If that doesn't work, post back and we'll have to see about fixing the registry entry off-line:
Delete these registry keys (works in XP, Vista, Win7)
        HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\VerifyDrivers
