frustrated with lockups
Hello, I am new to 7 and am becoming very frustrated. Any help would be appreciated. My problem is, my machine (HP notebook, 4G, Windows 7 home premium 64) is constantly locking up for a few minutes at a time. Typically a program will "lock up" for no reason. That is, a simple command will cause the blue circle icon to appear, and the program will sit for 2 to 5 minutes until it suddenly is fine again. During this time I can sometimes open or run other programs, but sometimes not. Task Manager doesn't show high CPU use during this time, memory about 50% at most. This happens in programs like IE (32 and 64), Windows Explorer, applications like Quicken (even when running in compatibility mode). So far this morning I have at least 30 minutes dedicated to staring at the screen waiting for a lockup to clear up. I don't want the world, only a system that is as reliable and stable as my previous 10 year old desktop running XP.
Like I said, any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |
