Windows 7: computer still acting up

Do you want me to run memtest from a cold boot? I have made the cd and booted into it to test the patriot ram that I had installed before and had no errors. That test was on all night. I did not test them individually. The second set of ram is a new matched pair of corsair memory that is installed in the second set of slots. The first two slots are empty. Do you want me to test only one at a time? which slot? Thank you marc

I would run the test with the ram in there that was present when the error occurred. Running a memtest while shifting ram around is counter productive in this scenario.
and the cold boot method tends to be the most telling.

I will run the tast with the matched corsair ram in the same slots as when the errors occured. I will post results tommorrow. Do you think i should run driver verifier? Thank you for the help.

Driver verifier couldn't hurt. The reason I'm pointing at ram is because there is some sort of strange corruption in your dump files that I really think is either ram or hard drive error related.

I am running memtest 86 on my desktop now. It seems as though it is hanging. Pass 0
test 5% #
test #0 [address test, walking ones, no cache]

Does this test take awhile to see movement after starting?
The program will not even let me escape.
The program stops at the same point for the third time in a row after rebooting.
I dont remember it doing that while testing the patriot ram.

Ok
I took both sticks out and put just one in the first slot and booted up. memtest is running as expected now. I did not want to move the sticks but memtest was hanging at the start of the test. Should I just let this test run for awhile , or should I put the second stick in separately to see if it hangs. Hope I'm not to confusing, but I had to try to move the memory to see what would happen

If the memory is causing such a problem that memtest can't properly run while it's in there. I would say you've probably found your culprit.

I removed the first stick and replaced it with the second stick. I only let the first stick go through one complete pass as I will do a longer check later. The second stick has passed with one complete pass. Both sticks were tested individually in slot #1 I reinstalled them back in slots 3 and 4 and tried again. Memtest hanged again.
The question then is why are they good in slot one individually, but they fail when they were in slots 3 and 4 together? Can the motherboard be bad?

Both sticks in slot 1 and 2 Memtest hangs. Apparently it has nothing to do with slot 1 and 2, or slots 3 and 4 being used. Memtest will not run the ram in a pair, but will run them individually. I am confused

You may want to go to the manufacturers website for your motherboard and look at the ram compatibility list. I would also check for possible bios updates. For some reason the hardware doesn't seem to like the ram you have.
