Windows 7 BSOD crashes

Hi - I am having BSOD problems with Windows 7 on a Sony Vaio all in one - it gets the BSOD every time I am logged on. I could be working on anything, no obvious pattern). I have searched around the forums and done a few things like a virus check and a registry clean and restoring from a pre-problem restore point. .

The computer is only new and I have been running it without problems for a couple of months - then this started a couple of days ago.

If someone can tell me how to upload the .dmp file I would be grateful. It tells me I have to be the administrator - if I.m not I don't know who is.

Since I do a lot of work as an editor - it is very frustrating .

If you wish to have others assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder. The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
* Briefly describe the problem history and circumstances in the same post. Somebody will attend to your query as soon as possible.

Here is the .dmp file

Thanks. Look forward to someone more knowledgable than me working it out. Cheers

Hello Didge,

I would first remove AVG including identity protection. AVG is a known cause of BSOD and same as third-party anti-virus. Use this removal tool when done: AVG - Download tools

Use Microsoft Security Essentials (free, easy, less crashes) in it's place: http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/

Update this driver...
Code:
fffff880`01351000 fffff880`0135cd00   PxHlpa64 PxHlpa64.sys Thu Mar 13 14:58:17 2008 (47D88A39)
Used by many different CD/DVD programs, if you don't know what program uses that driver, Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers and rename PxHlpa64.sys to PxHlpa64.BAK
This will break your CD/DVD program, but can easily be renamed after we've finished.
Code:

*                                                                             *
*                        Bugcheck Analysis                                    *
*                                                                             *

Use !analyze -v to get detailed debugging information.

UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP (7f)
This means a trap occurred in kernel mode, and it's a trap of a kind
that the kernel isn't allowed to have/catch (bound trap) or that
is always instant death (double fault). The first number in the
bugcheck params is the number of the trap (8 = double fault, etc)
Consult an Intel x86 family manual to learn more about what these
traps are. Here is a *portion* of those codes:
If kv shows a taskGate
        use .tss on the part before the colon, then kv.
Else if kv shows a trapframe
        use .trap on that value
Else
        .trap on the appropriate frame will show where the trap was taken
        (on x86, this will be the ebp that goes with the procedure KiTrap)
Endif
kb will then show the corrected stack.
Arguments:
Arg1: 0000000000000008, EXCEPTION_DOUBLE_FAULT
Arg2: 0000000080050031
Arg3: 00000000000006f8
