    BSOD's and/or Computer freezes

    Hi there.

I stumpled upon this website in my search to find out what is causing my computer issue.
I really hope someone is able to help me here, as it seems that I cant get further without it.

I just assembled the computer with some newly bought parts, as my friends and I are getting ready to play the soon to be released game "Rift".
However after getting the computer up and running, and while playing the beta of this game, I am now getting BSOD's and hard freezes.

It only happens when i am in the game (havent played anything else, but I assume it also happens in other games, as there is no mentioning of these kind of crashes on the game forums / no problems on my friend's computers).

The only thing I can find in Windows eventviewer is the errors regarding windows havent been shutdown correctly.

It is Win7 Ultimate 64bit that is the O/S and I freshly installed it on my new HD (a C300), which I at first thought was the culprit, as the Disk has been the cause of many problems, as can be seen at the Crucial forum here: C300 Disk Freeze-ups in Windows 7 - Page 22 - Crucial Community
However I've noticed that all the people that experienced the problem had the same error showing up in the eventviewer about the disk. I havent seen this error.

I also thought it was the MB's OC Genie function (MSI p67-gd65), but after turning the OC function off it is still happening.

It doesnt seem to be a temperature problem, atleast not on the graphic card, as they never get hotter than 75C in the ATI control panel.
The CPU also seems to have normal temperature.

I have attached the files you usually request to this post, and I really really hope someone can get to the bottom of this.
Thank you very much in advance.

    Br

I forgot to mention the magnitude of the problem. Today my computer froze 2 times within 3 hours or so. There were no BSOD's today, just these freezes which i had to use the power button to shut down from.
Other days it may be 2 BSOD's + 2 hard freezes within 4 hours of gaming.
Sometimes i can play for like 5 hours straight and then have 2 of these crashes within 30 minutes, other days it can crash 2 times in the first hour, and work fine for hours after that.

It never crashes outside the gaming. Atleast no crashes have occured for this 1½ week I have had the computer, outside the game.

Hello Psico and welcome to Seven Forums,

Uninstall AVG including Identity Protection, using this removal tool: http://www.avg.com/us-en/download-tools.
AVG is a known cause of crashes and problems on some Win 7 systems. Download and install Microsoft Security Essentials in its place. Make sure Windows Firewall is turned on. See if your system runs better. Let us know.

Also, The dmp(s) point to ntkrpamp.exe or ntoskrnl.exe as the probable cause. We know this is not the case, as these are core OS files, and will definitely not cause a BSOD. They are just the default files the debuggers blame when they can't see a better cause. We need to run driver verifier to pinpoint the faulting driver...

    - Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
    - Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
    - Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
    - Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
    - Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
    - Select "Finish" on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out. Use Safe Mode if you cannot boot into Normal Mode when done.

Thank you for your quick reply.
It's unfortunate that it doesnt tell us what might be the problem, however I will try and uninstall AVG using the tools you linked.

Regarding the driver verifier, you mention it is to stress the drivers out, and the aim is to cause the crash.
However, is it more prone to crashing, when running it ? Or does it just record what happens when the crash occurs ?
Reason why I'm asking is because the next beta event of this game is not untill next Tuesday, and if this "Driver verifier" does not increase the chance of a crash, it probably wont happen untill that day.
Also, when I experience the crash, what then ? How do i turn this Driver verifier off again afterwards, and should I gather new stuff from any reports that might be created by "Driver Verifier" and attach to a post inhere ? If so, where does it create the log ?

    Thank you in advance..

Turn on Driver verifier and monitor BSODs, wait the PC to crash at least 3 times and upload the new dumps.
Driver verifier will make the system crash and help us identify the faulting driver

And how do i turn the verifier off again ? wont risk having the computer permantly go to a BSOD without me knowing how to turn it off again

I read the rest of your answer as it should do a BSOD in normal windows without me having to play the game that have been giving it before (As I cant untill next Tuesday, as mentioned in the original post). That is great.. Now just need to know how i turn Verifier off, before i dare to turn it on. :-9

    Thank you

    Thank you

However... I didnt get so far.
I started with using the tool sugested for removing AVG, after a short while it was done and told me it needed to restart. So I did.

After that i logged into windows and and waited for it to continue doing its thing..nothing happened, so i started up chrome to come inhere and see what the next tool i needed was.
As soon as i started up the chrome browser i got a BSOD (And I didnt start the verifier..only tried to remove AVG using the tool suggested here).
Not a normal BSOD as it only had the text:
    C0001147 unknown Hard Error
    Unknown Hard Error.

Restarted the machine again, and this time when i opened Chrome no webpage could load.
I then tried to open IE, and BANG another BSOD. This time normal huge wall of text.

Restarted again, and when in windows neither chrome or IE could load any webpages...siigh.
Thought i might try in Safemode, and tried to hit the restart button in Windows....nothing happens.
Then the shutdown button..nothing happens.. after trying 5 or 6 times..BANG
    another BSOD.

Im now typing this in Safemode, as clearly not much now works in my normal windows.
What to do ? and what has happened ?? As mentioned I've only used the tool posted in this thread to remove AVG...and then all hell broke loose.

Why suddenly is my system messed up after this tool ? :-((

    please

No new dump files is created for any of the BSOD's today. Atleast not where the others were: c:\windows\minidump\*.dmp
the memory.dmp in the windows folder is also from another day, so no luck there either.

The settings is still set to save the dump, and i could see at the normal BSOD's that it was saving to 100percent.
However none created at mentioned folder, and not possible to search in safe mode here.

    :-(

My normal windows mode is pretty much nonfunctioning..everything soo slow, and unresponsive now. Half of the things dont work when clicking.
