in quick succession attached.

Thanks for the suggestion Maguscreed. Did you have any particular diagnostics in mind or simply chkdsk?

Run SeaTools for hard disk errors/issues - http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/sup...loads/seatools
and do the chkdsk

The dump is way too inconclusive (corrupt) to read.

Hmm

Hi DeanP,

I have carried out your suggestion. Chkdsk did not show up anything but the Seatools gave me a fail on my primary disk. Does that mean the disk needs to be replaced asap?

Thanks for your help.

I can't offer anything else new, but I would suggest you do your best to back up important information now. I still think it's a drive issue. If that's the case the drive could be dying, I would back up what I could right now just to be safe, before I even continued troubleshooting.

Magus is correct. If Seagate reports errors with the HDD. Then back up your Data or create the system image and then replace the HDD.

Thanks Gents

Dear Maguscreed and DeanP,

Thanks for your help. The drive is only 3 months old (Samsung Spinpoint F3) which is irritating as I thought they were excellent drives. I have to get another one in order to send this one back! Can you guys recommend any particular make / model type that you feel is reliable, quiet and fast.

Thanks again for your time. It's greatly appreciated.
