BSOD`s all the time

I bought a new computer just month ago and I have had serious problems since.
BSOD`s while I am playing games or just running windows programs.
I have tried to update all drivers, I reinstalled Windows 7, and ran memtest+ with no help. I think my BSODīs may be caused by memory modules (F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM). Now they are running at 1067MHz and system seems to be pretty solid, but I thin they should be stable at least 1333 MHz.

Here are all information generated by SF Diagnostic Tool.
BTW. Thanks to Capt. Jack Sparrow for this amazing tool.

Hello and welcome to 7 Forums,
Capt. Jack Sparrow did not create the jcgriff tool - it is from jcgriff (J. Griffith).

Can you please enable Verifier?
Quote:
Using Driver Verifier is an iffy proposition. Most times it'll crash and it'll tell you what the driver is. But sometimes it'll crash and won't tell you the driver. Other times it'll crash before you can log in to Windows. If you can't get to Safe Mode, then you'll have to resort to offline editing of the registry to disable Driver Verifier.

So, I'd suggest that you first backup your stuff and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Win7 Startup Repair feature).

In Windows 7 you can make a Startup Repair disk by going to Start....All Programs...Maintenance...Create a System Repair Disc - with Windows Vista you'll have to use your installation disk or the "Repair your computer" option at the top of the Safe Mode menu .

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
NOTE: You can use Low Resource Simulation if you'd like. From my limited experimentation it makes the BSOD's come faster.
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out. If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation (an estimate on my part).

Reboot into Windows (after the crash) and turn off Driver Verifier by going back in and selecting "Delete existing settings" on the first page, then locate and zip up the memory dump file and upload it with your next post.

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.

If that doesn't work, post back and we'll have to see about fixing the registry entry off-line:
Quote:
Code:
Delete these registry keys (works in XP, Vista, Win7)
Code:
:
        HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session  	Manager\Memory Management\VerifyDrivers
        HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session  	Manager\Memory Management\VerifyDriverLevel

All of your drivers are up-to-date..., test the memory (RAM) with Memtest86+: RAM - Test with Memtest86+
- Run at least 7 passes (will take 6-8 hours)
- Do this overnight
- Burn .iso to a CD/DVD using a CD burning program (I recommend Imgburn)
- Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot. Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

Regards...

Ok. I made a bootable CD and ran Memtest86+ V4.20.

DRAM settings were 533MHz, 7-7-7-20

1) I ran one 2GB memory module in A1 slot. Run lasted 8 hours, 16 passes 0 errors => Slot A1 and memory module in case are fine?

2) Iran other 2GB memory module in A2 slot. Run lasted 4 hours, 8 passes 0 errors => Slot A2 and memory module in case are fine?

So if I use those two tested modules in tested slots A1 and A2, they should work fine?

I will test last two memory modules in B1 and B2 slots later today.

Is it possible, that BIOS settings are not correct? I have tried AUTO settings and manual settings with different combinations. Even 533 MHz 8-8-8-24 gave BSODīs.

Is your Ram matched? Same Manufacturer. Type. Model. Size. Batch. Timings. Etc.?
Download and install CPU-Z. Take screenshots/snips of the Memory tab and all the slot#'s under the SPD tab. Attach the images directly to a post for all to see.

Yes same manufacturer and everything. Even their serial numbers are consecutive.

I changed DRAM settings before running Memtest86+ again (set 666 MHz, 9-9-9-24)

Third run: third module in B1 slot lasted 4 hours 30 minutes, 9 passes 0 errors

Fourth run: fourth module in B2 slot lasted 1 hour and 27 minutes, 3 passes 27391 errors!!

So that particular module must be damaged or B2 slot is damaged? I tried that "damaged" module to A2 slot and ran memtest for 30 minutes with 1 pass and 0 errors. Then I ran module that passed 9 times to B2 slot for 29 minutes and got 1 pass 0 errors.

I think I have to stress that "damaged" module and that B2 slot longer time next night.

One strange thing I noticed was that when I ran modules in slots A1 and A2, their frequency was correctly prompted by Memtest (666 MHz, DDR-1333). But when I ran modules in B1 and B2 slots, Memtest prompted their frequencies (200 MHz, DDR-400). What that supposed to mean?

I have only 2 modules at the moment installed and here are CPU-Z info:

What are the manufacturer and model numbers of the RAM you have?

We are going to test each module and slot individually, which might take a while. Turn off the computer, and remove both sticks of RAM. It might be good to mark one with a small piece of tape to keep track. Put just 1 module in the first slot, and run Memtest for a few passes. Then swap modules and test it again. Then put one in the second slot, and repeat both tests. If they all pass, then it might be a problem with the motherboard being able to use both slots, and you should test both in at once to see if it still gets errors,
If one of the 4 tests produces errors, it could be a bad stick or bad slot, and testing it in other slots would narrow the problem down.

It could also be a problem with BIOS settings, which is why I need to take a look at what the defaults for that RAM is.

G.Skill ripjaws F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM, so I have 4 2 GB modules. They are consecutive serial numbers with last three digits 245, 246, 247 and 248.

I have Asus M4A87TD-EVO mobo, 4 DIMM slots: A1, A2, B1, B2. A1 and B1 is channel 1 and A2 and B2 is channel 2.

So far I have tested them individually:

module 248 in A1 slot: 8 hours 13 minutes => 16 passes 0 errors
module 245 in A2 slot: 4 hours 8 minutes => 8 passes 0 errors
module 247 in B1 slot: 4 hours 30 minutes => 9 passes 0 errors
module 246 in B2 slot: 1 hour 27 minutes => 3 passes 27392 errors

module 246 in A1 slot: 7 hours 51 minutes => 16 passes 9728 errors
module 247 in B2 slot: 2 hours 40 minutes => 5 passes 0 errors

Is it correct conclusion that module 246 is damaged and slot B2 is fine?

I still wonder why Memtest86+ shows DRAM frequencies in B1 and B2 slots (200 MHz, DDR400) but in A1 and A2 slots (666 MHz, DDR1333).
