    BSOD Win 7 32-bit SP1

    Hi

Having multiple BSOD, normally it seems when playing video/video streaming, but not always when doing this.

    My system is:
    Core 2 Duo 2.13ghz
    3gb ram
    Win7 Ultimate 32-bit
    MSI Nvidia Geforce 8600GT

System was bought second hand, so not sure about the OS install, but i think it's a home build from about a year ago.

Problem seems to be getting worse, would really appreciate any help you guys can offer!

Also, I've updated all my drivers/windows updates and tried re-seating the cards/ram to see if this madea difference. Ram is 3x 1gb DIMMS, of which 1 i think is a different manufacturer to the other. Motherboard is a Asus P5B-VM.

Any other info needed, let me know!

Hi, Swap and welcome to the forum. Both of your dumps point to a hardware or a hardware related (driver) problem. One dump directly blames hardware and the other directly blames AVGIDSFilter.Sys, and AVG driver.

I suggest you start with uninstalling AVG using this removal tool: Tool (32bit). Also uninstall Identity Protection using this tool: Tool. AVG is a known cause of BSOD's on some Win & systems. Download and install Microsoft Security Essentials in its place.

Out of date drivers can cause BSOD's and I find the following outdated drivers loaded on your system. Some are quite obsolete. Update these drivers through the links provided or uninstall the software or hardware they are associated with. Your TV card is quite obsolete.
ComproHID.sys Sun Sep 30 21:56:13 2007 - Compro HID device for Video Mate TV Card. Compro Technology, Inc..

CPhilMAS.sys Thu Nov 20 12:35:19 2008 - Compro Technology -PCTV. Compro Technology, Inc..

SCDEmu.SYS Mon Aug 06 20:15:06 2007 - PowerISO Virtual Drive driver. PowerISO - Create, Edit, Extract, Mount, Compress, Encrypt, Split ISO file, ISO/BIN converter, Virtual Drive, DAA

    LVPr2Mon.sys Thu Apr 30 18:42:22 2009 - Logitech QuickCam driver. Downloads.
    - I have listed links to most of the drivers in the code box above. Please use the links there to see what info I've found about those drivers.
    - search Google for the name of the driver
    - compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
    - visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
    - if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

    - - The most common drivers are listed on this page:
    Driver Reference
    - - Driver manufacturer links are on this page:
    Drivers and Downloads.

Follow these suggestions and see if your system is more stable. Please post back and let us know.

    UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP (7f)
This means a trap occurred in kernel mode, and it's a trap of a kind
that the kernel isn't allowed to have/catch (bound trap) or that
is always instant death (double fault). The first number in the
bugcheck params is the number of the trap (8 = double fault, etc)
Consult an Intel x86 family manual to learn more about what these
traps are. Here is a *portion* of those codes:
    If kv shows a taskGate
use .tss on the part before the colon, then kv.
Else if kv shows a trapframe
            use .trap on that value
    Else
.trap on the appropriate frame will show where the trap was taken
(on x86, this will be the ebp that goes with the procedure KiTrap)
    Endif
kb will then show the corrected stack.
    Arguments:
    Arg1: 0000000d, EXCEPTION_GP_FAULT
    Arg2: 00000000
    Arg3: 00000000

Hi Carl, thanks for the warm welcome and the really speedy response! I've followed your suggestions, not yet had time to leave the system running to test stability. One thing I did notice was that after removing AVG using the links you posted, there still looked like there were bits of AVG on my system eg icons on desktop/startmenu/program files (the "uninstall" option didn't seem to work after running the links) and there also appeared to be a couple of registry entries in root. I deleted the remaining bits from program files & desktop/startmenu, was wondering should I delete the registry entries too? Thanks again for your help, will hopefully get chance tonight to see if I'm having any further BSOD tonight.

You are welcome for the help. I am not a very big advocate of registry cleaning at all. However, the one exception to this is left over keys from uninstalled hardware and software. If you are absolutely certain those keys you mentioned are associated with AVG, it is safe to delete them. Ccleaner (free) is a really good cleaning program and the registry cleaner portion is one of the safest. You can use it to find the AVG keys. Ccleaner will make a registry backup before it deletes any keys, the safe thing to do. Never blindly follow a registry cleaner and delete keys just because the registry cleaner lists them. If you do not know what the key is for, leave it. Extra keys in the Win 7 registry will not bog Win 7 down or slow it in millisecond.

Right, had the system running for a few hours and it definitely seemed more stable, but it did crash while I was out of the room. I've attached the files again, any further suggestions?

Hi, anyone had chance to look at this? I've had another crash and wanted to try to figure out what is causing this, so frustrating when you get BSOD!

Hi, still getting BSOD, I think its still a problem with the TV card. I did re-install the latest drivers, but not sure they have worked properly, as the driver date in device manager seems to be 2010, whereas the date on the Compro website is 2011. What is the best way to re-install? Should I physically remove the card, delete the registry entry, then replace the card and then re-install the drivers??

    Help appreciated!
